Ch 9: Conflict with the Infected

The girl raises her head. When she sees Lin Ye, she is surprised and panics. She takes a step back but she is already in the corner, where else could she go?

However, Lin Ye takes her hand into his, "Where are you running to?"

Elan is tearing up, "Brother Lin, I... I am infected."

"I know. I know." Lin Ye tries to reassure her by hugging her close to his body and patting her head gently to comfort her, "It's fine. There's no need to panic. It's fine. I'm here. Everything will be alright."

"The police will kill me." Elan just can't stop crying, Lin Ye's shoulder is starting to feel wet but he didn't care. "They want to arrest me and put me in jail. I don't want to die, Brother Lin. I don't want to go to jail." She holds his body as she begs for him. She is shaking like a leaf. 

"Can you save me, please?" still sobbing, she begs.

It makes Lin Ye feel bad when he sees Elan like this. The innocent girl that used to laugh at him when he got slobber by her dog, now has become like this. He wants to find that guy who spread oripathy and put his three bullets in that guy's head and fling him into a pool of Originium.

However, he can only hug the girl and pat her on the back to comfort her, "Everything's fine. I am here. So don't worry."

His ability does it work again. Elan quickly calms down but she seems to remember something and pushes Lin Ye away. He grunts as she tries to be as far as she can from him.

"Brother Lin, you have to stay away from me. I don't want to infect you."

Watching the girl who was just trembling in the corner push him away saddens him even more.

Is this why she ran away from home? To not spread oripathy to her parents and brother...

What a kind girl.

Lin Ye goes and hugs her again. She tries to break free from him. Saying she was dangerous

"Everything's fine." He whispers into her ears hoping it will calm her down, "Brother Lin is here to bring you home to your family again."

His ability does it work again. Elan didn't turn him down this time. Instead, she buries her head into his shoulder and quietly sobs.

"Interesting, there is still a doctor at this hour."

Lin Ye turns around to see a mob gathered behind him. The one who talked has yellow hair and dog ears.

Looking at the steel rod in that man's hands, Lin Ye has a bad feeling about what's about to unfold, but he doesn't let his emotion show. Sometimes you need to act braver than you really are. He holds Elan closer not letting her see any of them, "What do you want?"

"Are you an Infected?" The yellow-haired man asks.

"What does that have to do with you?"

"Of course it does. Everyone here is an infected. We are comrades. If you are not with us, then I can't let you leave alive."

Lin Ye squints and guesses who that person is." I see."

"What?"

"So you are the organizer of this riot?" Lin Ye asks, "Your the one responsible for spreading the virus, Am I right?"

The yellow-hair man shows his stupid mad smile again, "What do you mean? Spreading virus? We just hope we have more comrades."

The ones around that man laugh at his remark, but those who are sitting on the ground look at the group of people with rage, desperation, fear, and other complicated emotions.

Elan grabs Lin Ye's clothes and whispers to him, "It was him."

"What?" Lin Ye didn't hear her.

"He was the one who gave out candies..."

Lin Ye clenches his fist. Yup, someone is getting hurt.

On the other side, someone whispered into that yellow-haired man's ears. After hearing what the other had to say, that man laughs even louder.

"A vet?!" He points his steel rod at Lin Ye. "You a &#%!@  vet?! Come on. Even a doctor can't do sh*t. What can a vet do?!"

Lin Ye puts his hand in his pocket, holding his python tightly, but he doesn't take the gun out right away. He only has three bullets so each needs to count, and on the other side is a group of Infected on the verge of going berserk.

When the yellow-haired man stops laughing, Lin Ye asks, "How about letting us go?"

"Let you go?" That man looks at Lin Ye, and the corner of his mouth twitches slightly, "What do you think?"

A steed rod hits Lin Ye's head from behind.

And he hits the ground with a thud like a log.
