The night that everything went wrong was nothing special.
Honestly, if you really want a good word to describe it, it would be "lacking". A day so normal it made Midoriya want to rip his eyes out. Nothing had happened, not a thing.
He had woken up to the sun just like every other day, then took a shower and brushed his teeth like he did every morning. He had eaten the breakfast that his mother cooked for him, and kissed her goodbye when she pulled up to the doors of his elementary school.
Even the school day was average. Every topic they covered was boring, and didn't challenge Midoriya in the slightest. He even sat down to eat the same lunch he had been eating for the last week.
Not that he was complaining or anything, but it just made the day so identical to every other day. Midoriya can remember even now thinking back, how he wished something, anything would happen.
Anything at all.
In hindsight, maybe it wasn't the smartest wish to put out there. Maybe he should have paid attention to the genie that told his master to be specific with what he asked for, because there always seemed to be a way to twist someone's words into something they didn't mean. Such was the case of Izuku Midoriya.
Even the excitement his mother showed when she picked him up had been just that. Completely average.
He had come home from his totally average day to spend time in his totally average apartment, and sat down on the couch to watch a show that was neither good nor bad. It was just average.
So average in fact that Midoriya can remember the ticking of the clock as the seconds went by, and the quiet sizzling from the pan that his mother used to make dinner.
The crickets had begun chirping the same tune they sang night after night, and the air that ruffled his fluffy green hair was only noticeable because of how bland everything else had seemed in comparison.
Midoriya should have remembered that they hardly ever open the windows.
As cheesy as it sounds, he feels as if that whole day was just one big warning. A giant red sign that screamed "BEWARE DANGER". It was Midoriya's own fault that he mislabeled that day as "lacking", because it was honestly anything but that.
He remembers the open window squeaking on it's hinges, the light tapping on his floors that he was glad to hear because it was finally something.
He should have questioned it though. Should have ran over to his mom and told her that he heard something that wasn't supposed to be there. But he didn't.
And just like a nun in a strip club, it had all gone to hell.
"...oria."
"...doriya!"
"Midoriya!"
"Deku!"
Midoriya's head snaps up at the sound of his name. He hadn't realized that he had even dosed off. Something tells him that he is going to be crashing someday soon though.
His classmates are all looking in his direction, whether it be a subtle glace, or a full body turn to make everyone aware of who they are looking at. He can practically feel the lasers on top of his head.

FanfictionIf you ask someone to describe Izuku Midoriya, they'll probably tell you that he's a sweet boy. Someone with a big heart, a cute stuttering problem, and personality as bright as his smile. All of which would be totally correct. If not for the fact t...
