Techno growled in rage as his sword clashed against his enemies. The clang of the two weapons echoed throughout the empty halls of the castle.

No guards were in sight. No one to help him. But it's not like he needed the help anyways. He was the prince, he could take care of himself. His attacker's masked face was emotionless as the two clashed swords again and again, blocking, parrying and dodging eachothers attacks.

Techno was beginning to grow tired of the constant repetition of the sword fight.

He dropped his sword and for a moment the attacker hesitated, suprised. Techno took that time to use his hands to blast a cocoon of fire around the person.

For an experienced fire elemental, this technique would have been simple and quick. But for seventeen year old Techno, it backfired completely.

Unfortunately it turns out that the person he was fighting had not come alone. And suddenly Techno was surrounded by a group of seven to ten masked figures.

He weighed his chances, but eventually let his hands drop in defeat, the fire dissipated into the air with a crackle as the figure of the leader of this group came back into focus. He grumbled in annoyance as he stared at the person in front of him.

He was taken aback when he heard a female voice speak.

"Now that you have come to your senses and surrendered. I want to make a deal with you, your highness" the voice was laced with venom and Techno scowled.

"I'm not making any deals with any of you" he growled.

"Oh? And what will come of your father once you make us mad?" The voice questioned. Sniggering could be heard coming from a few members of the group as Techno's demeanor changed completely.

"What are you implying" he questioned.

"I'm implying that we have King Phil in our grasp. And if you don't do exactly as we say, we will eliminate you" the masked figure answered.

"What will you do to him?" Techno shakily asked.

"We have a death elemental on our team Prince Techno" the woman stated.

The prince's eyes grew wide with fear as he spun around to try and find the death elemental in the group of people surrounding him. Even though he tried not to show it, he was terrified.

Death elementals were people to fear. Only one death elemental in one thousand people existed. And if someone was a death elemental, they were to be hunted down and brought to the nearest holding facility, either dead or alive.

Death elementals had the power to travel to the spirit world and talk to the dead. But that wasn't why they were to be feared. There was another reason.

Techno was dragged out of his thoughts by a piercing snap of fingers coming from one of the attackers. The woman coughed and began speaking again.

"So Prince Techno. The deal is simple. We won't hurt your father. And you run. Run to the furthest town you can and stay there until you die. Never return here. And never speak of this encounter. Or our death elemental will be rid of him. Do you understand?"

Techno swallowed the growing lump in his throat as his anxiety levels rose. "What did you do to my brother" he shakily asked.

The woman's mask had moved to show only her mouth, which curled up into a smirk.
"We gave him the same ultimatum. And he chose the run part. Prince Wilbur was always a rather smart boy wasn't he? So. Do we have a deal?" The woman extended her arm, and Techno could see the symbol of the light elemental inked onto her arm. The symbol looked rather smudged thought. As if it had been painted over something else, to hide it.
