It had been a year since the incident, and both Jungkook and Namjoon had cut off all contact with anyone they were involved with. Anyone from that past to try and move on from this killing spree.
They had been staying in Ilsan, the small town treating them both kindly. The two had accustomed to working at little shops there to make ends meet, and many people were actually grateful for their help around. In this part, there were surprisingly a lot more elder people than young, so when these two healthy boys wandered in offering to do any kind of work, everyone was quick to comply.
Yes, it was a drastic transition, and yes people had questions but kept to themselves. Who wouldn't have questions? These two just suddenly appeared in town, Jungkook holding onto Namjoon, both seeming exhausted and wanting nothing more than to lay down. Both slept for days on end without waking, finally happy they were able to fall asleep without worrying about being killed.
Jungkook was the silent one while Namjoon spoke and communicated with most of the people. It wasn't that Jungkook was shy he was just...trying to overcome the shock that still resonated within him.
But after a month or so, they settled in nicely. Of course everyone thought the two were dating from how close they were, but they weren't. Just friends trying to get by without each other, knowing no one else would be able to stand either of them or help through the trauma they both experienced. Namjoon was Jungkook's stabilizer, and Jungkook was Namjoon's rock, both being there no matter what.
They weren't going to leave. All they had left was each other.
Little did Jungkook know, Namjoon's goal was definitely to try and get with the other, though. After witnessing Jungkook's caring nature, and his snappiness and boldness, he began to feel other things towards the other. Not like he hadn't felt them for a while. The whole ordeal with V made Namjoon realize his feelings for the other, but in retro spec, Namjoon just adored the similarities he had with his hyung.
He felt the need to protect him. The need to be there for him. The need only came from the promise he made Jin when they were younger. If something ever happened to Jungkook, Namjoon would never be able to forgive himself, and live with self hate the rest of his life.
But, as time progressed, Namjoon and Jungkook got together despite both being in love with someone they couldn't have. Which seemed to also be a factor in why they could work. They used it as an excuse to be able to deal with those periods of regret and grief. Both men knew the other wasn't over their love, so it was easier for them to help each other out when they broke down.
Jungkook never expected it to last this long, though. Never thought that when Namjoon texted him to meet at a cafe that he would offer finally moving like they both wanted.
Across the sea.
To America.
Jungkook was stoked, but there was one stipulation.
They needed to leave the past in Korea once they left. And not ever talk about it once they got to America. Needed to leave everything they knew and were familiar with. It was only to ensure they could be happy without anything holding the back, but Jungkook was afraid he wouldn't be able to do that. He needed more time. But for Namjoon, he'd do it.
He'd try, and lock everything in the deepest parts of his mind to ensure he'd never think about them.
Never remember them.
So it was while Jungkook was walking down the street of the town that he started to feel nauseous about what they were doing. He couldn't do it, V didn't deserve to be forgotten like that. Jin didn't, Yoongi didn't, no one that was involved deserved that. They needed to stay in their memories, all the good times shared and created. What sick psycho could just drop all these dead names and forget them like they were absolutely nothing.
