                                                                                ~Dipper's POV~

A/N: For the sake of legality, Dipper and Mabel will be a bit older than in the show.

I walked alongside Mabel as she chattered on. The topic was of her latest tango with Pacifica.

"And then she insulted my sweater! Can you believe that! So I told her at least I have a cool fashion sense. I mean have you ever looked at her?" I rubbed my temples as Mabel continued to get louder. Mabel, not getting the hint, continued until her voice was shrill.

"She told me my sweater was ugly! It's not supposed to be ugly! It's not Christmas! Dipper!" She stopped in her tracks and looked at me. "Are you okay?" I looked up from rubbing my temples.

"You're just a little shrill, that's all. Can we get something to eat before heading to the shack?" She grinned and ran to give me a hug. "Yes! I'm so hungry." She let me go and we continued to Lazy Susan's.

When we got there, we grabbed a booth and looked over the menus for a bit. A waiter whom I'd never seen came up and took our orders.

I heard Mabel speaking, but I was captured in the looks of this stranger. His strong jaw, honey eyes, and straw colored hair seemed to glow in the sunlight. He turned to me after speaking to Mabel. "And for you?" I shook my head to snap out of the trance.

"What?" He smiled and laughed a bit. "What would you like to drink?" You, I thought. "W-water please."

He smirked and walked away. I looked down at my menu, suddenly feeling a kick. "Ow!" I scowled at Mabel. "What was that for?" She grinned at me. "You Like him!" I blushed and looked down again. "No... I just think he's nice looking is all." She looked at me for a long moment.

"Okay, then I hope you don't mind if I ask for his number." I continued to stare at my menu, feeling discouraged. Her expression softened. "You're just shy, aren't you? Maybe I could get his number and set you guys up! Match Maker Mabel at it again!"

The waiter came back as she said that, looking at us in confusion. "Here's the tea for you, and the water for you." Did he just wink at me? He straightened and took out a small notebook.

"You guys ready to order?" His voice is so rich and soft. Mabel finished ordering and he turned to me once again. "And for you?"

I looked at my menu, ordering the usual. I felt myself trip over some words, my cheeks turn red, and then staring downwards as I felt him smile. "I'll get that right out for you guys." I looked down for a few more moments, then looked at Mabel. She seemed to be day dreaming, and I followed her gaze to a cute boy across the restaurant.

"Hey Mabel?" She continued to stare at the stranger. I reached across the booth and tapped her arm. She instantly recoiled into a kung fu stance and looked at me with wide eyes. "What?" She shouted. I grimaced and looked around to make sure no one was looking.

"Shh. So I was wondering. Do you think you'll actually ask for his number? He's really cute and I'd like to get to know him better. As you said, I'm a little shy." Mabel grinned and grabbed my arm, shaking it. "That's so cute! Of course I can."

When the waiter came back, he dropped off our food and stood straight. "Anything else I can get for you guys?" Mabel twisted a lock of hair around her finger, leaning forward. "Could I have your number?" I looked from Mabel to the waiter, anxious for his answer. He seemed to falter for just a second, then continued to smile. "Sorry sugar, but he's more my type." He pointed a thumb in my direction while I turned red.

He walked away and I turned to Mabel. "Did you hear that!? What do I do? What now?" Mabel continued to smile. "I don't kn- oh wait he's coming back this way." She switched the conversation to something else as the waiter approached our table.

He dropped a piece of paper in front of me, turned to wink, and continued to walk to the other side of the diner. I looked at it, reading Bill and a phone number below it. Mabel squealed.

"How cute! I love a good romance. Are you gonna call him?" I shushed her and put the paper in my wallet. "We'll decide when we get home. Let's just eat for now." I picked up my fork and began to eat. Mabel followed suit, rambling on once more about Pacifica.

~~~~~~~~~~~
We walked home after lunch, Mabel continuing to chat. This time, she went on about the waiter, apparently named Bill.
"He was super cute though. I mean did you see those eyes! I was totally in love with his jawline too. I really hope this turns out well because you guys would be cute." I blushed a little at the thought. I'd never been in a relationship with a guy before, despite discovering my attraction a few years ago. I had confessed my feelings, but each attempt led to a disgusted face and them ghosting me.
Maybe this will turn out better because he approached me. I got lost in my thoughts for a little, letting Mabel talk to herself. We reached the shack, and she instantly broke into a sprint upon seeing Candy and Grenda. I smiled. Alone time.
I flopped onto my bed, staring at the piece of paper. I shrugged after about five minutes. Might as well. I added Bill into my contacts, texting him a simple Hey, it's the guy from the diner.
I waited for a response, staring at my phone with high hopes. I threw my phone away from me as I realized he probably wasn't off work yet. I decided to read to pass the time.
I looked up from my book as I heard my phone ping. Wow I read for a few hours. I unlocked it and went to messages.
Hey cutie, what's your name?
