Kerala...

Ah! The thought of you makes my heart leap.

Just saying your name brings me much relief.

The fragrant jasmine splattering drops of rain,

The backwaters and coconut trees down the lane!

The dance of the gods, a race in the ardent waters,

The glory of ornate elephants, rich melody by the drummers.

Such a feast for the eyes, joyful music to my ears,

Oh, I cannot describe how, my soul, it cheers!

The lush carpet of flowers, the sweet fruits of harvest,

The vivid spread on leaves in this season of zeal and zest!

With hearts filled with joy, lamps lighting every alley,

Dressed in festive attire, we welcome Mahabali!

Alas! This year, there is no music, no laughter,

No rhythm in the air, no troops of folk dancers.

Yet, with hopeful eyes and a praying heart,

I await his homecoming. It, sure, is hard.

I wonder if he prefers it virtual this time,

Or is he here, chillin' in quarantine?

With all pomp and show, arriving just on time,

To ignite desperate minds, just a dream of mine!

Either way I'll celebrate, shoving all woes aside,

Focus on the beauty and the happiness inside,

Kerala! You are not just a place but a feeling,

God's own country, you'll soon be healing!
