Silver woke up the next morning to see her littermate fast asleep in the basket given by the twolegs. They managed to save Cherry but got trapped in the den themselves. She stretched in the warm sunlight that filtered through the clear glass and clambered out of the basket.
She noticed that the revolting twoleg mush that was supposed to be food was in a bowl with another bowl filled with water next to it. Silver padded up to it and wrinkled her nose in disgust. How do kittypets eat this? Silver thought. She heard a noise behind her and saw Rose rolling over in the basket and falling out.
"OOF!" Rose groaned drowsily. Silver let out a mrrow of laughter. Rose frowned at her, shook her head, and leaped onto Silver.
Then, in mid-battle, Rose backed off and headed towards the furry thing they DIDN'T sleep in. Rose began ripping the fabric of the basket, and Silver yelped in alarm.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?" She hissed. "We'll be thrown out!"
Rose turned halfway towards Silver, her claws still ripping. "Exactly."
"Don't you think this...this...'escape plan' needs some work?"
Suddenly, loud tremors shook the ground.
"EARTHQUAKE!" Rose dropped the fabric and lunged for the door.
Silver rolled her eyes and said, "Nope. It's the twolegs you wanted. They're coming to throw us out."
"They don't even KNOW I started ripping it. I have to keep it going. MOVE!" Rose scratched at the basket.
"Ahem," Silver jerked her head up at where the twoleg loomed over them.
The twoleg reached down and scooped up Rose. It growled something and began moving back towards the door, disappearing down the bumpy, rickety steps leading downwards.
Silver hurried after it, not wanting to lose track of Rose. She moved quickly across the wide wooden platform that was at the end of the steps, but the den was so big and rather cluttered, that she couldn't spot Rose.
A small opening caught her eye. There was a flap in the door, just big enough for Silver to slip through. Deciding that she could go to the forest and come back with more cats to help find Rose, Silver pulled herself through the gap. She glimpsed a tall sturdy wooden fence that surrounded a small area that was outside the door. Without thinking, she awkwardly scrambled up the fence and dropped into a bush that was directly under it.
Shaking her pelt, she groped her way out of the bush and clawed a few stray leaves off her pelt. She noticed the entrance to a forest that was just off the thunderpath, so she checked to see that there were no monsters on the path before impulsively bounding to the other side, weaving in and out of the bracken and trees.
She reached the heart of the forest right when she realized that when she first came to the twoleg place, she didn't need to cross a thunderpath.
A/N Yep. Short.
