10 – Why

I looked outside the window and saw the glorious sun starting to rise. My eyes shifted to the wall clock, it's 5:30 in the morning. I closed my eyes once again and tried to sleep more.

This is going to be my most hated day, for sure.

I looked at myself in the mirror and I wasn't shocked when I saw how horrible I look. Ilang balde ba ang iniyak ko kagabi?

I shivered when my foot touched the cold tile. I bit my lower lip to endure the coldness.

This shouldn't be the feeling of a bride on her wedding day, I know. I can't help but to release my agony on this day. Is this really my end? That damn man told me he's going to do something. Guess what? He did nothing! All he did was hide and pretend that no engagement was happening!

"Freeda! You're early!"

I rolled my eyes when I heard mommy's voice. We ignored each other like nothing happened.

"Of course! It's the wedding of my dear Anastasia!"

I shut my eyes. I didn't like the taste of it. Taste like stupid.

"Hi, Freeda.." I forced a smile.

He walked towards me and kissed my cheek.

"Asia, congratulations on your wedding!" He happily said. "Is this an Aristizabal? I heard you had a relationship with their eldest!"

Umawang ang labi ko. "Ah! No, actually. Spencer and I are really just good friends.."

"Really?" Umangat ang kilay niya. "So it's a Valdemar, then?"

Pinilit kong ngumiti sa kaniya. Napapalakpak siya sa reaksiyon ko.

"Ito ba 'yong ikalawang Valdemar? Hindi ba't ex mo iyon? Nagkabalikan?"

I shook my head. "No, Freeda. It's the youngest."

I sipped on my tea again.

"Ah.." he nodded. "It's actually a big news. At bakit ang bilis naman ng kasal? It didn't have enough time for the preparation!"

I rolled my eyes. "Why don't you ask mom?"

Tumawa siya ng pagak. I focused on my tea and looked outside again.

I heard rumors.."

"What rumor–"

"Freeda!"

Tita Alondra was gracefully walking towards on her flowy dress.

"Alondra! It's nice to see you again!"

I stood up. A smile was plastered on my face. Maybe I look like an idiot for forcing myself to smile but who cares? This is what I should do.
