02 – Told
My jaw almost fell on the floor when I realize who that was. Pinatay ko agad ang cellphone ko saka inihagis iyon sa kama. My heart was racing so bad. Daig ko pa ang nakipaghabulan sa demonyo. What the hell was that? Why would he text me that message?
Sneak into my room, huh? As if I would let him.
Agad akong humarap sa salamin sa huling pagkakataon para tignan ang hitsura ko. Oh my gosh. Do I look bad? Do I need to put much make up tomorrow? Is my hair frizzy?
Patuloy na nagtatambol ang puso ko sa sobrang kaba. Kahit na nanginginig pa rin ang kamay ay nagmamadali kong dinampot ang cellphone ko mula sa kama at tinawagan si Amethyst. Kaya pala may text na sumisigaw ang gagang ito!
“Congratulations!” sigaw niya agad sa kabilang linya. “You are doomed, Miss Salazar! Your bestfriend slash ex-boyfriend is now here!”
What she said didn’t help to calm my heart. He’s really here? In the Philippines? Here in Manila? Is he in their mansion already?
“Amethyst!” pahisterya kong sigaw. “He texted me!”
“Oh! Talaga?” she giggled. “Anong sabi niya?”
I cannot see her but I can sense that she’s smiling widely right now. Sa tono pa lang ng boses niya ay alam ko na agad ang emosyon niya.
“He told me he just landed, Am!” nanginig ang boses ko. “A-and that I shouldn’t worry because he’s not going to sneak into my room like before!”
Malakas na tawa ang isinukli niya saakin. This girl and her laugh! I hate it!
Nilingon ko ang pinto ko ay siniguradong naka-lock iyon. Mommy shouldn’t know that Ayden’s home. She hates every bit of him. She thinks that he’s the black sheep of the family. She just disliked him from the very beginning.
“Ayan. Napakarami niyo kasing kalokohan noon. ‘Wag mo nang i-deny, Asia. Alam kong miss mo..” she chuckled. “He’s your first love. Natural lang na 'di mo malimutan ‘yon..”
“Shut up, Amethyst! Nakalimutan ko na iyon!”
“Eh, siya? Hindi niya nalimutan. Baka naman kapag kumatok ‘yan sa bintana mo, pagbuksan mo..”
Agad akong nag-panic at nagmadali patungo sa binata. Sinilip ko muna ang labas. Wala naman akong nakikitang kakaiba. The neighborhood is just as peaceful as before. Wala namang bago. Walang kahina-hinala.
“I am locking my window now!” I said.
“Why do you act like he’s some criminal? Ah, magnanakaw siguro? The one who stole your playful heart years ago, Asia?” she teased. “Hay! The ultimate playgirl Anastasia Elissa is now panicking because of her ex!”
Umirap ako at hinawi ang kurtina. Amethyst is not helping at all! Akala ko pa naman ay papayuhan niya ako kung paano ako kakalma sa ganitong sitwasyon. Inaasar pa ako.
“I am not a playgirl! Pwede ba, Am? Kung payuhan mo na lang ako?” naiinis kong sagot. “For sure he’s at the party tomorrow! What do I do?”
Nang mabanggit ko ang party ay kinabahan na naman ako. Lintik. It’s his parent’s anniversary! Malamang ay nandoon siya! Malamang ay isa siya sa sentro ro’n! And I should be seen there with Atlas. Some reporters from magazines will be there. Mommy will demand publicity for us, for sure.
“Uhm? Um-attend sa party na iyon at ipakita sakaniyang naka move-on ka na?”
I rolled my eyes again because of frustration. “No, Am!”
