Aurora rose to consciousness slowly.
But as she became concious she became aware of all the aches and pains in her body.
Her muscles were too tight, her throat was parched and she had a splitting headache .
She felt strange, like her body had changed overnight.
Then she realised where she was.
Or, moreover, she didn't know where she was.
She sat up in a plush, king sized, four poster canopy bed that swallowed her thin form.
The room was just as fancy as the bed.
Soft rugs covered the polished wooden floor.
The two windows in the room and a door, that presumably lead to a balcony, were covered by heavy, red, velvet curtains.
A chandelier hung down from the ceiling.
It was only at half light, giving the room a soft lighting.
Oak bedside stands stood either side of the bed with a lamp on each.
The walls were white accented with golden swirls.
There were three doors in the room not including the balcony.
One was a way out of the room, one for a bathroom and one for something else.
Despite the pain in her head, Aurora got out of the bed and grabbed one of the bed posts before she fell down again.
Again because. . . because she went to the Cave of Forbidden and- oh no.
What did she do.
But- but she was alive.
She gave up her life but then how was she still alive?
She remembered the pain and terror all too clearly.
She pushed the thoughts away.
She didn't want to think about that now.
She looked around for a mirror but there was only the doors, one probably leading to a bathroom.
The only problem now was that three metres of empty, flat ground separated her and the door most likely to be the bathroom.
Aurora sucked in a deep breath, preparing herself.
On the count of three Aurora pushed off the bedpost and staggered towards the door.
Despite staggering, her movements felt more graceful.
She grabbed the door handle before she fell down.
It was made of gold with a gem embedded in its top.
Aurora twisted the handle and pushed it open.
A giant mirror edged with lights was placed on the wall in front of the sink which was set in a white marble counter top.
A bath tub was placed across from the sink on the tiled floor, the toilet was set in an adjoining room and a fogged glass window let moonlight in but she couldn't see outside.
She rinsed out her mouth and drank some of the water, too parched to care if it wasn't drinkable.
When Aurora looked up into the mirror she winced.
She looked like the walking dead.
Her eyes had dark rings surrounding them.
Her cheeks looked hollow and her lips were chapped and peeling.
At the sight of the stones and leaves that were stuck in her hair, Aurora cringed.
She picked them out and found a brush to get rid of the knots in her hair.
Her dark red hair fell halfway down her back but it did nothing to disguise the fact that her body looked thinner than ever with her collarbone and ribs jutting out starkly.
And her ears were. . . pointy.
She was also in new clothes.
The dark red silk pajama top had a V-shaped neckline edged in red lace.
The silk shorts matched the pajama top.
Aurora's face heated.
It was very. . . showy.
She was about to find something more decent to wear when there was a knock on the bedroom door.
Aurora froze.
Another knock.
She turned and left the bathroom.
As she past the middle of the room another knock sounded and Aurora gave the door a wary glance but she kept going.
She had just reached the balcony doors and grabbed the handle when the bedroom door opened.
"That's a really bad idea."
