Part 10: A Succulent

Start from the beginning

He's smiling a little more now, the amused smile with dimples. "I enjoyed it a lot, too, Theo."

Now I get why Jillian nearly swoons every time Elliot says her name. Blair says my name tenderly, and it feels kind of intimate. I immediately lose all capability to speak and just kind of gaze at him for a few moments, before he shifts a little closer and carefully brushes a thumb over my jaw. I lean into his touch, my eyes fluttering closed. He runs his thumb over my jaw, then my cheek, and I open my eyes again to blatantly stare at his lips. One corner of his mouth quirks up, but he seems to get the idea.

"May I?" he asks softly, and I nod a little bit, leaning towards him. A second later and his lips gently close over mine. I exhale, pressing forwards. He kisses me again, a bit firmer, though still softly. His fingers trace over my cheek, the light touch sending tingles through me.

He doesn't stop kissing me for what feels like hours. And I'm not complaining; I could spend days on end kissing him.

Unfortunately, he eventually pulls away. I let out a soft whimper, which makes one corner of his mouth quirk up again. I blush and look down.

"Come on, I'll walk you to the door," he murmurs, still slightly smiling. I let my eyes flick back up to him, which makes me blush even more before opening my door and getting out of the car.

He walks close behind me to my doorstep, where I hesitate before opening the front door. I look at him for a moment, before quickly leaning in and clumsily pecking his cheek, then turn and open the door and go inside as quickly as I can without falling on my face. Once I've slammed the door behind me, I turn to peek out the window. He's smiling.

Hey
You busy?

Jilly:
Hi, where've you been all day?
Nope, I'm free

Sent:
K, you open to call?

Jilly:
Sure, just give me a sec

I go to my room, closing the door a second before my phone buzzes. I answer it so fast I almost hit 'decline' instead.

"Hey, what's up?" Jillian asks, and I let my enormous smile take over my face.

"I WENT ON A DATE WITH BLAIR SILVER!!!"

"WHAT?!" she shrieks. "THEODORE SAMUEL ROSE TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!"

My face is getting sore from smiling so hard. "Okay, so, last night, I was at the soccer game, right? And I set an alarm so I'd know when to leave, but then my phone fell out of my pocket and I ended up staying way too late and then I got to the bus stop right as the bus was leaving and there were these guys who were smoking and then started coming towards me and then suddenly this motorcycle pulled up beside me and it was him and he told me to get on so I did and he drove off and asked me if I was okay and I said yes so he took me home..." I pause, trying to remember the conversation leading up to the kissing.

"Hold up, hold up, are you actually okay? People who were smoking and coming towards you? That sounds..."

"Terrifying? It was. I was totally panicking. But yeah, I'm good."

"Okay. Continue."

"So then we were outside of my house, right? And I probably should've gone inside, but I didn't really want to. And then he said my name, like, my full name, and I told him he could call me Theo, and I mean obviously I was rambling so it was more like 'You can call me Theo, my friends call me Theo, not that we're friends, but like you know, blah blah blah', and he was like, 'do you want to be friends with me?' and I was like 'yes,' obviously, and he was like, 'well I don't wanna be friends' and I was like 'wait what then why'd you ask'- I didn't say that, of course- but then he kinda came a little closer and was like, 'can I kiss you?'-"

"What?! He kissed you?!"

"Yeah." I'm grinning so hard that my face is starting to hurt.

"Dude! Your first kiss was from Blair Silver?! That's crazy! How was it?!"

I sigh dreamily. "It was amazing. He's really good. I mean, obviously I have nothing to compare against, but it was really, really incredible. He's so gentle and sweet."

She squeals. "Ugh, that's amazing. Okay, so then what?"

"Then he was like, 'I'll see you tomorrow', and I went inside and he left, and then this afternoon he showed up and we kissed twice before my mom interrupted and he asked her if he could take me to the farmers' market."

"Wait, your mom walked in on you kissing?"

"I mean, I was sitting on the front porch, and he was like, super fast at moving away, so I don't think she saw anything since she asked if he was my friend."

"Ah, okay. So then he took you to the farmers' market?"

"Yeah. He bought me a succulent. It's adorable, I'll have to send you a picture. He's really sweet, Jilly. Like, he asks to kiss me before he does it, and he's never rough- it's not like anything you'd guess from his like, leather jacket and motorcycle and stuff. He's just gentle and charming."

"Awww, that's adorable. I'm so happy for you, Theo."

I grin. "Thanks, Jilly."
