Poem #8: I'm a Six Foot Snake in Mississippi

I'm a 6-foot snake in Mississippi.

Isn't that something?

Some people are afraid of me

I think it's nothing.

As a 6-foot snake living in Mississippi

People misjudge me for rope

String, twine or even something worse

A leaky garden hose

I slither on through the grass

Making my way downtown

But the people living here

Well their faces turn to frowns.

No one likes a 6-foot snake

They're scary

Big

And dangerous.

Me? I'm just a simpleton

Trying to live because

I'm a 6-foot snake in Mississippi

Living like I always do

Sure I may be dangerous

But I was never planning to hurt you
