Charlotte crosses her arms across her chest and leans back, "And what would that be?"

Liam handed her his phone, "I need you to call Jett and get him to meet you."

She pushed the phone away, "Hell no. I am not talking to that dick."

Liam closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "Please, it's important."

Charlotte looked over at me, I sent her a pleading look. She took the phone from Liam, "This probably won't work, he knows that I hate him."

Liam put his hand on her knee, "Then be a really good actress, please."

Charlotte dialed out the number by memory, and it rang. She held the phone out on speaker.

"Hello?"

"Jett, it's me...Charlie..."

The phone sat in silence for almost a full minute.

"Are you there?"

He answers, "Yeah, what do you want?"

Charlotte rolled her eyes, "I miss you, and I really want to see you."

"I call bull shit."

Charlotte looked up and Liam and shrugged. Liam mouthed, "Try harder."

She rolled her eyes again, "Please, Jett. Can I just meet you somewhere.. just for a few minutes."

"Whose number is this?"

Charlotte darted her eyes to Liam, he motioned his hands in a circle. She quickly answered, "I got a new number."

Silence.

"Fine. Meet me at the Diner in like an hour."

She hung up and threw the phone at Liam, "What exactly do you expect me to do?"

He stood up and held his hand out to help me up, "I will go over the plan in the car."

Liam and I sit in the parking lot of the diner as we watch Charlotte wait by the flashing open sign. It had been well over an hour since the phone call had taken place.

Liam's mom has called twice since we had left my house. Sarah was awake and starting to eat.

"Maybe we should just go to the hospital and talk to Sarah."

Liam shook his head, "We are sticking with the plan, then we can go ask her."

Two hours had passed since the phone call. Charlotte knocked on Liams window and rolled it down, "He's not coming."

I could see anger and disappointment on his face, "Let's go see her."

Charlotte took her place in the backseat and we left the diner in the rear view mirror.

Liam's mom was struggling to stay awake in the chair in the corner of the waiting room when we arrived.

"Stay here, I am going to go talk to Sarah."

I grabbed his hand, "Why can't I come with you?"

He grazed my cheek, "Someone needs to be here with my mom, and I don't think Sarah needs to see us together just yet. Let me handle this one."

He leaned over and left a kiss on the tip of my nose. Charlotte pulled a dollars out of her pocket and shoved it into the vending machine.

"You have the right idea, I'm starving." I open my purse and put out a handful of loose change.

"I know that you two are looking for this reasoning as to why Sarah has the drugs in her blood... and I hate to be the one to say it-"

"Then don't." I shrugged.

Charlotte leaned against the vending machine, "Emilie, she bought them... she probably uses."

I shook my head, "Sarah doesn't use drugs."

"Maybe she didn't.... but maybe she does now." Charlotte reaches her hand to my arm.

Mrs. White shifted in her seat and slowly opened her eyes, "Emilie, honey, when did you get here."

I took the seat beside her, "Not long ago. Liam went in to see her. Can I get you anything?"

She smiled softly and pat my hand, "No, honey, but thank you," she stood up and wrapped her Shaw around her arms, "I am going to go find a cup of coffee."

Mrs. White disappeared down the hall. My phone began to ring, an unknown number:

"Hello?"

"Hello,Emilie."
