Kidnapped

I jumped awake, startled by the alarm waking me up. I slammed my hand down on the alarm and slowly sat up. I really didn’t feel like going to work today. I seriously thought about staying home and calling in sick. I could feel something off about today. Something bad was going to happen.

Since the beginning of this week something has been telling me something was wrong. I ignored it but today my body felt crazy. I felt like I just ran ten miles non-stop and I had a huge headache. I sighed and got up. I knew I still had to go to work. I needed the money. I popped some Advil in my mouth and ran to my bathroom to take a quick shower. Once out, I sped through my room, looking for the clothes I needed for the day. Of course, I was running late. I had to be at work in 20 minutes.

In 10 minutes, I was out the door with a low V-neck shirt and some skinny jeans. I lived close to work so I just walked there today. It was quicker than riding the trolley.

Just as I was started to feel better, something went hay-wire in my body. I froze to the street and didn’t move. My heart was beating like crazy and I was started to sweat. It was about to happen. The thing that I’ve been so worried about this week. I looked around at everyone else to see if they had done the same, but they were totally oblivious to everything. It was as though they has no idea something was about to happen.

There was something like felt like a shock wave that went everywhere. I looked at everyone again to see if they had felt this, but still, no reaction. As if on instinct, I ran as fast as I could. I had no idea where I was going, but I knew I had to get away. I looked up in the sky and couldn’t believe my eyes.

There was something that looked like a giant portal in the sky and some fall flying from it. I gasped and stood there, frozen yet again to the ground. My brain told me to run, but my body didn’t let me. I was glued to the ground, starring at this unbelievable sight.

I heard high pitched screaming coming from everywhere. I looked around, finally getting control of my body again, and saw them everywhere. Aliens. They were killing people left and right, even children! I darted through the streets and dodged everything that flew my way. Surprisingly, I missed every blow they threw at me.

Then I saw an ally coming ahead. I can stay there until stuff dies down. I ran to it as fast as I could and hid behind a giant dumpster. I slowly slid down the brick wall and fell to my knees, tears streaming down my face. Who would do this? Who is the leader of this madness? I started thinking of all my friends. They could be dead already, not knowing how to escape. My family was all dead, so at least I didn’t have to worry too much about them.

I thought of my best friend Devin. That clumsy girl probably didn’t know what to do with herself. I had an idea of what she was doing. She was probably arguing with one of the aliens, even when she didn’t speak their language. She always was a fighter. I hope she’s safe…

I could still hear the screams of everyone around me. I put my head in my hands and tried to block it all out. I stayed there sitting like that for probably an hour, before everything stopped. I looked up, glad that it was all over. But just as I was about to get up, I heard some footsteps coming down the alley I was in. I froze, scarred to death. I clapped a hand over my mouth to keep from making any noise at all.

“You are lucky you are my brother, Loki, or else I’d kill you right here.” I heard a deep voice.

“I understand that, Thor. Now please explain to me why I was not teleported back to Asgard and here instead.” I heard another voice.

“Father is very upset with you. The first thing he thought of to do to you was to was drain you of your powers and immortality.” He paused and I could heard the other man’s breath hitch. “But, after speaking with Mother, he has decided to give you another chance.”

There was a silence. “Why does he say this now?”

“He feels guilty. Mother blames him for making you this way. She says that I was always the favored child.”

“You WERE. Are you blind? Father would always choose you before me. I do not feel any remorse for him. I hope he dies in his pity for me.” The other voice spat back.

“Why don’t you just be thankful that you are able to come and live with us again on Asgard? You do not have to always be a nuisance to people, making them feel bad for being horrid to a man who is nothing but evil.”

“I… I can go back to Asgard? I can see Mother again?” There was a pain in his voice. I almost felt bad for him.

“Only if you swear to never wreak havoc upon another defenseless world again.”

“Deal,” I could hear the smirk in his voice. So THIS was the man to ruin my town? The place I loved with all my heart?! I could feel the hate rolling off of my body.

“Um, brother, I am a bit hungry. Do you think we could get some horrid Midgardian food before we travel back? The evil one said.

“Of course! Where to?” That was an amazing brother. He was willing to forgive this man for all this chaos he has done.

“Why don’t you go and pick something up for us? I need to take a break, I’m worn out.” The one I’m guessing is Loki answered.

“I guess… just stay here. Got it?”

“Oh yes, brother. I wouldn’t dare.”

Oh god oh god oh god, how do I get out of here now?! I could hear footsteps walking away. I suck down closers to the garbage can.

“You think you smart, spying on another conversation, hmm?” Loki said, getting closer to me. I didn’t answer.

“Do not act like I cannot hear you breathing, you puny mortal.” He said, even closer this time. I squeezed my eyes shut and brought my knees to my chest.

“Boo.” He said calmly, his breath fanning over my face. I screamed and jumped up to my feet and pressed myself against the wall.

“Please, don’t hurt me. I wasn’t spying! I was here before-“

“Save it.” He cut me off and looked at me with a strange face. He walked closer to me pinning me against the wall. "What is your name?"

"Jess." i answered, hyponotized by his eyes.

“Hmmm… interesting…” he said, staring at me with a mischievous look, and smirked when I shivered at his velvet voice. He reached down and touched my arm, only to pull back again. “Why, your skin is very… cold, love. Do you need a jacket?” He said, still smirking.

“N-no. I’ve always had cold skin. I’m actually quiet warm right now.” I thought that if I tried to act normal and not scared then I could get away from this evil killer. I looked around, trying to see how to get away.

“Oh no, you aren’t going anywhere, sweetie.” I froze.

“W-what?! Why?!” I was starting to panic. I don’t want to die, please don’t kill me. PLEASE!

He cocked an eyebrow, reading my emotions. “Do not fear, love, for I will not harm you. I just want to get a better look at you. But being as my brother should be back any second, it seems as though you have to come with me.” I was about to ask what he meant by that but before I could react, he flicked his wrist I was starting to shrink.

“What’s happening to me?!” I screamed up at him. I was about the size of a small Barbie doll now.

He plucked me up and brought me close to his beautiful face. ”You’re coming to Asgard with us.” And with that, he placed me inside a pocket under his armor.
