I was now 20 years old.  I had moved to New Orleans when I was only 16 and have had an amazing life so far here in this city.  The entire four years that I've lived here I've always had the floor to myself in my complex.  However lately my floor has been busy with apartment personnel redoing the apartments on this floor and furniture being moved in and such.  I was actually excited to finally have neighbors.  I had worked as a waitress since I was sixteen but when I turned twenty I had began working in a bar as those waitresses make way more money.  When I turn twenty-one this fall I'll finally be able to be a bartender.  I'm already learning the ropes and the drinks and couldn't wait.  On my nights off from the bar I still teach classes at the gym which has recently come under new ownership.  I also still moonlight as a vigilante.  Once I'm done my schooling I'll become a therapist which amuses me to help people mentally and emotionally one way and getting rid of the garbage in their lives in my vigilante way.

I grabbed the streetcar for the French Quarter.  I was wearing a mid-thigh tight skirt with a loose slightly cropped tee for work tonight.  I walked into work and waved at Ian behind the bar and then squealed as I bounced up to my bestie Dana.

"Dana Mana!  I'm so glad we're working together tonight!" I said happily.

"Yeah girl, Katie called off so I was asked to come in." Dana said as she hugged me back.

"Hey girls, we're going to be getting new cooks here.  A couple of brothers." Ian said to us as we headed towards the bar.

Ian wrapped me in a hug and kissed the top of my head.  He had been my first boyfriend when I moved here.  He wasn't strong enough to deal with my issues as I went through therapy.  I don't blame him it just meant we weren't right for each other.  But he was a good first boyfriend and we're still really good friends now.  He's become like a brother to me and now he's my bestie's boyfriend.

"Hopefully they cook better than the one who is leaving us." I quipped with a fake cringe.

"I heard that!" Daniel called from the back as I giggled.

The night passed quickly and I only had to harm a couple of customers who tried to get handsy.  It was a busy night which meant great tips.  I walked out at four in the morning with Ian, Dana, and Daniel as the early morning crew arrived.

"I can't wait until you become a bartender with me.  It's too busy for just one bartender." Ian griped.

"Are we still on for paint balling later today?" Daniel asked.

"Of course!  We have to try out this new place before you leave!" I said as I poked Daniel.

We split up as I caught the streetcar to head back to uptown.  When I got home I ate a quick sandwich before crashing in my bed.  I was awoken at eight in the morning by loud voices.  I groaned as I looked at the clock.  Not even four hours of sleep.  I dragged myself to my front door and opened it to an empty hall but I could still hear the loud mouths.

"THIS IS NEW ORLEANS SOME OF US WORK DURING THE NIGHT.  THIS IS A CITY OF BARS AFTER ALL.  KEEP IT THE FUCK DOWN.  THANK YOU." I shouted before slamming my door and all but crawling back to my bed.

That seemed to work as the voices shut up and I fell back into a blissful sleep.  I woke up when my alarm went off at 12 pm.  I groaned as I rolled out of bed.  Seven hours of sleep will have to be good enough.  I showered and got dressed in my athletic wear before heading into my kitchen to make breakfast.  After breakfast I grabbed my keys along with my new paint gun and headed to my front door.  When I opened my door flowers fell in with a note.  I picked them up and read the note.

Dear Neighbor,

Our apologies for the loud mouths among our group.  Thankfully for both of us they won't be living on our same floor.  The quieter ones within our group will be on this floor.  I hope we can meet our new neighbor soon.  Please accept these flowers as a token of our apology.
