I stroked the knife's blade as I mumbled a quick blessing.
Then I threw it above me, hitting Richard in his ugly ghost face.
"Ow! What in the world, Rosa?!" Richard rubbed his face.
"Just put the food back, you lump" I picked up the knife and dropped it in the sink again.
"I'm not the one who stole your food!" he insisted.
"Yeah, it was the rats, am I right?" I scoffed at his words.
How even dare he.
"I'm serious!" he said.
"Okay, then why were you lurking right above me?" I tapped my foot impatiently.
"I wasn't lurking, I only came to warn you!" Richard explained.
"Warn me of what?" I rolled my eyes.
Honestly, I was in no mood for this.
Richard turned his head a full 360° to make sure no one was around.
Then he leaned in a little too close for comfort.
He had garlic breath.
"Your doupleganger" he whispered.
I instinctively looked away from him as I heard thumping in the living room.
"Richard-" I looked back to see that he had vanished.
How rude...
I wasn't about to go in there.
No way.
Who cares about the food?
I quietly sneaked up the stairs again.
But one step gave a loud creak.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" an angelic-sounding voice interrupted my sneaking.
Wait, that was my voice.
I prepared to run up the stairs, but someone grabbed my ankle.
My best option was to turn around.
"Hey Rosa," a girl identical to me smiled at me.
I slapped her in the face.
She let go of my ancle and I ran upstairs and into my parent's bedroom.
My parents didn't even budge.
Not even when I jumped onto their bed and grabbed the gun that hung above it.
I waited for my doupleganger to come barging in.
But it didn't.
"Rosa!" Richard yelled into my ear.
I yelped and shot at the ceiling.
Still, my parents did not budge.
They were used to loud sounds in the night.
"She has your phone, Rosa! Don't let her escape!" he yelled.
I must've dropped it on the stairs.
My phone was something I couldn't bare to lose.
It had all my stuff in it.
It was part of me.
"Where is she?!" I tramped out of the bedroom.
"The garden" he said.
"Perfect" I went into the bathroom and opened the window.
There she was. Climbing over the fence.
My phone in her hand.
When she noticed me her pace quickened.
I pointed my gun at her and pulled the trigger.
Only a click could be heard.
I pulled it again, but there was only a click.
The gun wasn't loaded.
She stuck her tongue out at me before she jumped over to the other side.
What a horrible creature.
What an absolute monster.
I wish nothing but pain and suffering upon it.
It shouldn't even have existed in the first place.
There should only be one of me.
And that's how I came to hate douplegangers, clones and all the other types of copies out there.
