FLASHBACK

"Daddy? It's me, Alena. I think. I need help. Please, come home. I need help."

"Alena, what's wrong?"

"It's mom. She's not moving. She's on the floor, covered in blood."

SPENCER'S POV

Alena was rushed into the ambulance, my hands were covered in blood. Her blood. I didn't know what to. Morgan put his hand on my back, I held him tightly. Sobbing into his FBI jacket. He led me over to the SUV, getting me in a seat

"Come on kid, let's go to the hospital."

He drove to the hospital, fast. But not as fast as possible, which only angered me more. I got to the hospital and ran in. Emily, JJ, Hotch, Garcia and Gideon were already there waiting. JJ walked over, trying to comfort me

"It's gonna be ok Spe-"

I walked off. I couldn't handle it.

FLASHBACK

"Happy birthday Alena!!"

The whole BAU team were in the office, holding a birthday cake and balloons. Spencer walked over to me

"I know that you don't like your birthday but an amazing girl like you deserves an amazing birthday and I'm sure your mother is looking down on you with a smile on her face."

I teared up, blowing the candles out and everyone cheered. As Garcia cut the cake, Spencer dipped his finger in the frosting and playfully put it on my nose. I giggled as my dad walked over. I was talking to my dad while wiping the frosting off my nose

"Do you know he's the only person that calls me Ali?"

He smiled as I walked off back to the team

SPENCER'S POV

I waited, as did the others, for hours. There was no word, nothing. I paced up and down the corridor, anxiously waiting. Every time a doctor would walk towards us, I'd think it was for Alena but it's not. Hours went by and finally, someone walked out

"Are you here for Alena?"

I nodded, walking over as did everyone else. He checked his clipboard and looked at us

"She's stabilised one room 23. The bullet lodged into a place just above her right hip but we removed the bullet and patched the wound. She will be ok, she'll probably have to be off work for a while but she will heal. You can visit her, she's awake. But heavily dosed on morphine."

Hotch thanked him and we all rushed to her room. I walked in first. I saw her conscious body, lying on the hospital bed attached to numerous machines. When I pulled up a chair and took her hand, she opened her eyes and smiled

"There's my pretty boy. You are seriously a sight for sore eyes."

I laughed, I could tell she was dosed up on morphine. She placed her cold hand on my cheek and stroked it for a moment. Her eyes were heavy, she was obviously extremely tired. Her right eye was bloodshot and she had a black eye on the left eye. She had cuts and bruises all over her face and down her arms. I leaned in and placed a kiss on her forehead when Morgan interrupted

"Calm down boy genius, she's only just woke up."

We all chuckled

"I could never say no to this pretty face."

She kissed me on the cheek as the rest of the team came in. They hugged her

"Is that son of a bitch dead? Or in jail at a push?"

Hotch answered

"I just spoke with the DA. He's being charged with Statutory rape, the attempted murder of an officer and way more to keep him in for life."

She smiled

"Of course you did because you are all so amazing."

We all laughed at her haziness, everyone stayed for a while but people started to leave. Penelope and JJ were first. Emily left a little after. Morgan left with Hotch. Gideon didn't want to leave, but Hotch suggested. I wasn't going to leave, that was a promise. The morphine made her drowsy, the words coming out of her mouth where far from innocent. I was on the bed, cuddling her. She grabbed my collar and pulled me closer to her

"Hey, you need to rest. None of tha-"

She silenced my words with a kiss

"Oh don't be a tease Spence. Come on, it didn't stop you last night."

She unbuttoned my shirt, trailing her hand down my abs to my trousers. I grabbed her hand, pulling it off me

"Ali. Normally, I wouldn't say no but you need to rest. Y-"

She scoffed

"I know Spencer. I'm broken, thanks for reminding me. Thanks for reminding me that I had a bullet wound just above my right hip. I just wanted, for once in my life, to feel normal. But guess that is off the table."

Her coldness turned away from me. I placed a hand on her back which made her shiver

"Ali."

She didn't turn around

"Hey. I'm talking to you."

She slowly turned to face me

"You are normal. You have experienced trauma in your life and I'm not going to lie to you Ali, you will probably deal with a lot more trauma as will I and the rest of the team. The main,
Important thing is how you let it affect you. You risked your life today, for me. You didn't need to that but you did. Your the bravest girl I've ever had the pleasure to meet and luckily enough for me, have the pleasure of calling my beautiful wife. But I assure you, I will be here for you and guiding you through this every step of the way. We are team, in more ways than one. This is our story to write, our narrative to write. We will do this together, it will take time. Ok?"

A little tear was in her eye, she looked at me with a smile on her face

"Wow Spence. That was so beautiful. I don't know how you have these inspiring pep talks on the top of your head."

I chuckled

"Well to be truthful, I just made that up as I went along."

She laughed, I rested my head on her head. Cuddling her

"I'm here for you Mrs Reid."

"I'm here for you too Dr Reid."
