REID'S POV

The past three months have been a healing process for Alena and me, partly. She's been taking her medication, I kept track of her dosage and at first it was normal. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed she started taking two every dosage. That triggered a fear within me, an old memory that I tried my hardest to forget. It was like opening Pandora's box in my head. I called Gideon when I knew Alena was out

"Spencer. Is everything ok?"

I sighed

"Gideon, I don't know how to say this but I um. I think Ali has been abusing the medication she had been prescribed by the doctor. She's been taking two every time when the box specifically says one. She's been doing this for weeks."

I heard his voice crack over the phone

"Tomorrow, we'll have to get her in for a talk. Be subtle, tell her it's to do with a case."

"Ok. Goodbye Gideon."

THE NEXT DAY

ALENA'S POV

I woke up early, getting dressed and ready for work. Spencer was obviously up before me. I saw him in the kitchen, reading a book. My arms wrapped around him

"Let me guess, second book?"

He chuckled

"Third."

I smiled, he made me so happy.

"Why am I not surprised? Come on, we are going to be late for the meeting."

I grabbed my keys and walked to work

AT THE BULLPEN

I walked in and saw my dad call me and Spencer over. We walked into the office and sat down. My dad had a stern look on his face which indicated something was wrong. He slammed a packet of tablets on the desk

"Alena. How many pills have you been taking?"

I looked down at the table

"1, like it says. Why?"

I looked at Spencer as he stood near the door, looking guilty. He muttered

"Babe, I've seen your prescriptions. You've been taken two a time. You understand how dangerous it is right?"

I scoffed.

"Really Spencer? You went behind my back? After I trusted you enough to open up to you. Why am I not surprised?"

Spencer had a tear in his eye. My dad was getting angry, he slammed his hands down on the desk

"ALENA. WE ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU. THIS IS THE LAST THING YOU NEED, I WILL NOT LET YOU BECOME AN ADDICT."

His volume decreased

"Alena, we care about you. We are here to support you and love you."

Spencer added

"Babe, I've been through it. It's hard, painful. I don't want to see you go through it."

Enough was enough. I wasn't going to sit here and let him shout abuse at me
