“Sounds like he’s whipped”
“Pretty much” I laugh and the guys go back to their banter and I can’t help but let a smile from setting itself on my lips as I watch them. I swill the liquid in my glass around before lifting the glass to my mouth to take a large gulp. I close my eyes in content and sigh happily. I open my eyes to find Jake watching me, “What?” I question with a laugh.
“Now tell me love, how the heck can you take that much liquor?” He questions in return his eyes landing on the half finished glass in my hand. I wiggle my eyebrows at him before putting the glass back to my lips and finishing it in a few gulps.
“That’s nothing” I tell him placing the glass on the table
“Oh really now?” He questions playfully
“Yes really”
“So the fact that that’s about your sixth one of those tonight is nothing too”
“Yup”
“So tell me how is it that you can drink more than most guys I know without being plastered?”
“I’ve always been able to drink more than most men”
“Prove it” he challenges with a twinkle in his eye.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Let’s have a shots competition”
“Okay”
The rest of the table turns to look at the two of us as we both stand up from the table. “Come on then” Jake says motioning to the bar. I follow him to it with the rest of the guys trailing behind. “Two sets of ten shots please Rick” he asks the bar man who chuckles shaking his head.
“You really think I’m going to let you get this one hammered while she’s out on her own?” He questions with authority nodding to me.
“I am quite capable of handling myself thank you Rick” I tell him defiantly with fire in my voice and I suppress a laugh as he looks taken aback by my sudden use of his name.
“You’ve had enough to drink tonight to have you crawling on the floor, I’m expecting you to crack any minute” He tells me playfully with a grin on his face.
“Come on, I can take it”
“I don’t think so; I’m not getting in trouble when you end up passed out on the streets”
“Please” I ask taking a step closer to him and giving him my best persuasive smile “It’s not going to hurt anyone...” I trail off as I watch his resolve falter.
“Fine” He agrees
“That’s the spirit!” I reply with a smirk as he turns his back to start pouring out the shots. I turn back to Jake who is smirking at me, “ready to lose?” I ask and his smirk widens
