THE GIRL WOKE up to the strange noise coming from outside of her room.
she sat up in her bed and looked over at the clock; it was 3 in the morning and she knew her father wouldn't have been awake by now. her mother was never home anyways so that didn't cross her mind.
hesitantly, she got out of her bed and walked to the door, opening it and looking out the hallway.
it was dark with only a small night light on the wall. just as she was about to take a step, there was a rustling noise from one of the other rooms. she furrowed her eyebrows, swallowing the lump in her throat, "dad..?"
there was no response but the noises stopped. slowly she stepped out of her room and walked towards where she heard the noises, her dad's office. she stopped in front of the door, placing her hand on the handle.
she took in a deep breath before twisting the door handle and stepping inside. the girl looked around, everything was organized and was in it's place
