Thirty Four

"Jaysea" I said standing up

Her eyes directed towards me and they softened. She pulled the breathing mask off her face and said "You waited for me"

I felt tears stream down my face

"Baby I could have waited forever" I told her placing my hand on her cheek

"I'm not in pain anymore" she said

"That's good" I said to her I was in shock and I had no idea how to react

"Where is everyone?" She asked

"That waiting room" I answered "I'll get them" I said backing away and Ròsa stepped in to comfort her

I quickly walked out the door and towards the waiting room. I felt tears of joy fall down my cheeks as I stopped right in front of Josh

"What?" He asked

I opened my mouth like I was gonna say something but nothing came out

"What is it?" He said giving me his full attention

"I...um..." I stuttered feeing emotion take over my body

"She's awake?" Griffin asked standing up and I nodded at him

"No?...your kidding..." Josh said pulling me into a hug

"What? What's happening?" I heard Bryce ask at he approached

"She's awake" I said confidently looking at Bryce

"Holy shit" he said hugging me

"Come see her" I said directing them to her room

I entered and Jaysea's smile light up

"Hey there stranger" josh said walking over to the side of her bed

"Hi" she smiled weakly

I felt my eyes start to water more as I walked to the opposite side Josh was on. I leaned down and kissed her forehead

"I missed you" I whispered

"I know" she smiled "I could hear you guys" she said looking between Josh and I

"Really?" Josh asked and she nodded

"It was weird I could hear you but I couldn't move or do anything to let you know I was still alive" she said

"Well we are just glad you are back" Josh said

"Yeah, we're really glad" I said

"Hi guys" she smiled at everyone else who was waiting in the doorway

They all waved with smiles on their faces

"And my dad?" She asked and I felt my heart drop to the pit of my stomach

"Listen..." Josh started turning back towards her

"You know I feel like I'm finally able to tell him how I feel and apologize for being so harsh. I love him and we both made mistakes" she said smiling

"Jaysea..." he replied but she cut him off again

"I just want him to know I'm not mad at him" she said

"Jaysea" he said firmly stopping her sentence

"What?" She asked defensively

"We found a donor..." he said but she cut him off again

"I know that's why I'm better" she smiled

"You need to let me finish my sentence" he said to her

"What's going on?" She asked sitting fully up

"Um...so...." Josh started with tears in his eyes but he couldn't finish so I did

"The donor was your father" I said looking at her

Her face dropped and her eyes went heavy. Her breathing became light

"H...H..He did that for me?" She stuttered looking at me and I nodded

"I..I didn't get t..to say goodbye" she said and her voice cracked on the work goodbye

My eyes shot to her hands. She was shaking

"Hey, it's gonna be okay" I said sitting on the edge of the bed

"I ignored him for years" She said starting to cry "I didn't even try to call. I was so mad at him, and now he's gone because of me" she said burying her head on my shoulder

"We're gonna get through this." Josh said grabbing her hand "but you can't blame yourself, it was his decision" he finished

"He said he loves you. He wished he was there when you woke up but the other donor failed and you were dying. He made the choice. He said he was sorry for all the pain he caused you." I whispered in her ear

"I killed him" she responded balling her eyes out

"Baby look at me" I said placing my hands on the side of her head

"You did nothing wrong. He made the choice. Do not blame yourself it's going to make you feel worse" I said

"Okay" she responded

"Okay" I said kissing her forehead

She's never gonna stop blaming herself I know it. I'm hoping I can help her through it. Together
