Meredith sat in the resident's lounge, reading a book as well as flipping through her phone every so often. She was still scared, the thought of someone coming to get her crossed her mind. Over and over again. Every time something move out of the corner of her eyes she quickly prepared herself for the worst. But it was always someone walking by the room, but it was never someone that wanted to hurt her. An hour passed of her trying to focus on her book as people continued to walk by and noises seeming to be heard in other rooms. She was scared and felt alone, but in reality, she really wasn't. A few times she wanted to just lock the door, but she couldn't, some people needed to get their things and change. All caught up in her book, the door flung open with Alex behind it. It made her jump, her book slamming on the table that was in front of her. Her eye's wide and scared. Alex noticed how scared she was, her body curled up into the chair she was sitting in.

"It's me, Alex," He told her calmly, closing the door behind him. Her eyes were still open wide, but her eyes were glued to the cubbyholes in front of them. She wasn't moving. "I-I'm not going to hurt you okay?" He told her, locking the door as he slowly walked over to her. She heard the click of the door locking, her head spun over to look over at him. He could see the fear in her eyes.

"Wha-what are you doing?" she stammered, looking him up and down nervously. It was obvious that she didn't know who he was. She was terrified of him, it hurt him to see her like that. Her jaw was clenched tight and she swallowed loud enough for him to hear her.

"I just locked the door, that way no one comes in. Okay?" He told her, he was stopped in the middle of the room, not daring to get any closer than he was.

"P-please don't hurt me." She mumbled, she looked around the room fanatically trying to figure out something. What she could do to get out. "I-I can't go through this again, just please." She mumbled

"It's me, Alex, Mer." He told her, he stepped a little closer to her, afraid she jump or try to run. But she didn't she sat there and listened to him. She still seemed scared of him, she didn't know what to do about the situation. "Mer, are you in there?" He asked softly, he got closer to her. Then something clicked. She frowned, shaking her head from side to side, and looked up at him with a confused look.

"I- um. I am not okay Alex." She sighed running a hand through her hair.

"It's okay." He told her as he walked up to her and began to hug her. To his surprise she let him, her arms wrapping around him.

"I-I don't know what that was. I was so scared of you, I thought you were going to hurt me. I-I think I was in some sort of trans or something." She rambled, tears starting to pool at the bottom of her eyelids.

"It's called PTSD Mer, you've seen it before." He told her, running his hand up and down her back. Trying to help calm her down. She let out a soft sigh and let her head rest on his shoulder. "You are just going through some things right now and you were too busy to notice. I can tell you this, you have so many people who are going to help you through this. Got it?" He explained. He felt her head nod against his shoulder. He sighed in relief, she was admitting that something was going wrong. That was a start.

"Thank you." She told him pulling away from the hug "Derek won't be done for another couple of hours, are you heading home?" She asked

"No, I just needed to get a snack from my cubby." He said "Then I noticed that something was going on,"

"Thanks for coming to the rescue." She chuckled, she looked up at his tired face. "You look so tired." She added

"At least I look better than you." He shot back, he smiled looking at her.

"Not possible." She muttered underneath her breath.

"Do you want me to stay?" He asked, "I-I can see if someone can take over my surgery." He offered. Meredith couldn't help but frown at his response, giving up surgery for her? No way would she let him do that.

"No, you go. I'll be fine Alex."

"Are you sure?" He asked, as he got up from his chair and went to his cubby for his snack.

"Yes, go do your surgery." She gave him a small smile when she said it. Reassuring that she'd be fine. He nodded, knowing she wouldn't let him stay even if she were to be dying.

"If you need anything, let someone know. Got it?"

"Yep." She responded, nodding her head as she spoke.

Alex exhaled as he put on his lab coat and started eating the granola bar from his cubby. He glanced over at her and turned to head out the door. A worried look still plastered on his face. The door started to rattle as the person on the other end of it was trying to get in. It made her jump, the loud noise boomed throughout the room. Alex quickly unlocked the door to a familiar face.

"Why was the door locked, is she okay?" Derek asked, his voice sounded worried. He peaked his head through the corner of the door.

"She had a Ptsd episode," He sighed as he let him walk in the room

"Meredith," He sighed as he walked over to her, gently taking her in his arms. "I told you to call me."

"I know but Alex was here, he comforted me. I am okay now," She muttered

Derek turned to thank him, but he had already left. The door was shut, shutting them out from the outside world. He sighed, looking at the tear stains on his wife's face. He couldn't help but take his hands and gently caress her rosy cheeks. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her. Derek saw the pain in her eyes and couldn't help but embrace her in his arms.
