Virgil Storm sat at the window, what he did every day. It seemed to be the best way to block out his roommates other then actually walking outside, a dangerous journey for anyone as pale as himself. 'Why was the sky so bright? Everything else around here is dark, why not the freaking sky too?' Virgil thought, his hands tucking into his sleeves as he scanned the all-too-familiar landscape. Twisted and spiked trees speckled their yard, surrounding the run-down dark cottage. It didn't look very appealing, with random bursts of pollen from orange-brown flowers and graffiti lining the walls of this poor poor house. The graffiti was Remus' fault, an umcontrollable ex-prince and exile like Virgil. He was rather sparratic, and had a bad habit of leaving the forest to steal from the villagers who never dared enter their territory. Maybe Virgil would be able to stand this place and its... quirks, if it weren't for the daily hopeless pining between the only other people living in the dark corner they called home. He was growing tired of the continous onslought of "What if he hates me?" and "What if it makes things awkward?" Things were already awkward, especially watching them flirt with no experience out of the dark cottage walls.

"Heyyyy Virgin~! Dee Dee wants to talk with you!" Remus purred into the distracted Virgil's ear, who immediately turned to slap him. Luckily, Remus dodged the backhand and hid behind the half-scaled figure, who had just entered and let out a loud sigh.

"Get outside for once, we're tired of your vitamin D deficiency and general pressence sitting at the window for THREE HOURS! Just go bug some town folk or something, maybe take a walk like a normal person, just... shoo." The half-reptillian figure, Janus,  waved Virgil away. Like Remus, he'd been banished and declared Dark, however he was in their dreadful prison because of his con-artistry and immitation skills. He was terrifying and immediately declared the three's leader.

"Okay, fine! But can you please get the rat to stop calling me that? He's not exactly gotten laid, now has he?" Virgil smirked, watching Janus' human half side go bright red at Virgil's silent implication. Remus was just angry, blind to the snake's embarrassement as he shooed Virgil out the door.

"Sh-shut up and go do something emo! I'm done watching you be a pititful window-dweller!" Remus spat, and to be fair, he was good at being intimidating... that is, to everyone but Virgil and Janus, who knew that he was mostly bark, despite the disturbing things he claimed. Virgil simply shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets and throwing his cape over his shoulders. He said nothing more as he left, simply giving the two behind him a two-fingered salut without a second glance.

Virgil passed the deeper forest into the near-outskirts. It was still his territory, but had a warmer glow about it, with ivy crawling along the trees that seemed to reach for you and speckles of morning dew on the grass. There were very few animals in their forest, all were too afraid to enter and even animals seemed to hide upon seeing the forest, but despite that, they had the occaisional magpie or owl along with their hordes of crows. The birds would fetch things for Remus, who had a bad habit of theivery and enjoyed feeding the terrifiying birds, however they seemed to trust Virgil more. He was constantly worried, and his carefulness assured the animals he would do no harm.

When Virgil ventured out, followed by a swarm of crows and spiders dancing along his sleeves, he looked like if Coraline met a Disney Princess and any who saw him froze. That was no problem, he preferred to stay in the forest anyway, in a specific clearing just a bit away from the stream. The clearing was more open, with vines draping from the trees but nearly nothing hidden, and he was even supplied with a gap in the dark foliage. Virgil thought of what a normal person would do, perhaps they'd read, or flee home, or maybe even meet with a friend. Sadly, he couldn't do that, so he pulled out a notebook hidden in his cape and began to doodle.
