LINDSEY HAD looked inside the heart of the Tardis to save the Doctor, ultimately causing him to regenerate to save them both from the time vortex. She had blamed herself for what happened but he couldn't have let her die because of what she did to save him so that's why he took it out of her, unknowingly leaving a speck that laid dormant, waiting for the right moment to awaken.
ROSE HAD TO wait for months til they returned, eating chips on her mothers couch, not even helping out which angered Jackie and her now ex, Mickey Smith who couldn't help but feel bad for Lindsey as she had to deal with the blonde hostility toward her during their adventures with the ninth Doctor.
UPON THEIR return during the Christmas holidays, the Doctor is tracked by pilot fish for an alien race, the Sycorax. The conflict between Rose and Lindsey continued especially with the unconscious Doctor near them, hearing everything.
