chapter 1

Today was the big day for Jimin that every teenager in the world looked forward to. It was his 17th birthday, and he just woke up from a peaceful sleep that had him feeling more energized than usual.

It was a big difference from how drowsy he usually felt every other morning, so hey, he wasn't complaining.

There was a reason why today, his 17th birthday, was so important for Jimin, same for every other teenager. When a person turns 17 years old, the first word their soulmate will say to them appears tattooed on their wrist.

Jimin had yet to glance at the letters he knew would be written there, he was just too nervous to peak at the life changing words.

He still remembered his parents' first words to each other. They met in their teenage years and were the "high school sweethearts" when they were 17, obviously.

Printed on his mom's wrist were the words 'excuse me' and his dad had 'watch where you're walking!' He wasn't at all surprised that his father was the more polite one considering he was a huge softie. His parents didn't like each other at first, well really his mom didn't like his dad, but then they became friends and soon were inseparable. Jimin hoped he'd be blessed with a cute relationship with his soulmate one day like his parents.

Because of this whole soulmate thing, Jimin never found an interest in dating anyone. He always believed that your soulmate is who you would end up with forever, and so there would be no point in dating anyone if it isn't going to last forever.

What Jimin was most worried about was if he already knew his soulmate. He couldn't imagine dating any of his friends... much less them being his "one."

Jimin's phone buzzed from beside him and soon the soft voice of Melanie Martinez came from its speakers. He picked it up, seeing it was his best friend was calling, and he answered it.

"Jiminie!! You're finally 17 and not a baby anymore! How does it feel?!" Jungkook's airy laugh rang from the other end of phone.

He heard another voice laughing in the background and recognized it as Hoseok's.

"Yeah, and maybe you'll grow taller this year!" Hoseok had no right to talk considering he was hardly taller than Jimin himself, yet Hoseok refused to see that fact.

Jimin rolled his eyes. "Thanks for the 'happy birthday best friend, wish you the best of luck today!'"

The phone went silent for a few minutes before Jungkook spoke. "They say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit."

Jimin just chuckled, shaking his head. "Whatever."

"Soo," Hoseok dragged on, "What does your wrist say?"

Both Hoseok and Jungkook had gotten their words months ago since they had much earlier birthdays.

Hoseok had the words, "I love you" while Jungkook had, "What do you want?" It said a lot about their personalities.

Neither Hoseok nor Jungkook found their soulmate yet, but Hoseok had a girlfriend, who was only year younger.

Her birthday was coming up soon, and Jimin hoped that they were each other's soulmate since they were so cute together. It would also make sense why his wrist had the words, "I love you."

Jimin glanced at his sleeved wrist and with a gentle touch, caressed the end of the fabric. "I actually haven't looked at it yet."

"What are you waiting for?! Look at it!" Jungkook encouraged and Jimin could see his large eyes covering the entirety of the screen.

Jimin smiled lightly. Maybe it was time to look at it, and what better time than with the company of your best friends?

"Okay..." He sighed and mentally prepared himself for what he was about to see. He decided he'd look on the count of five. Out loud, he mumbled: "One mississippi, two mississippi."

Jungkook groaned. "Oh forget Miss - ippy, haven't you heard she's cancelled?"

Jimin broke his concentration and looked up at his phone. "What?"

Hoseok laughed and shook his head. "Just don't stress about it, Minnie."

The pink haired boy nodded in agreement and without wasting another minute, he pulled down his sleeve and eyed the small words printed on his wrist.

"It says..."

He looked curiously at the words.

"What's your answer?"
