Chapter 12- "Done Checking Me Out?"

Start from the beginning

The girls and I decide to play some Truth & Dare. After all, we're all besties and knowing more about each other won't hurt. Though, at this point we already know each other so well that we can finish each other's sentences. Still, I believe it would be a good way to really get to know Lauren.

I spin the bottle first. It lands on Allie and Adrian. This means that Adrian has to answer any question or execute any dare that Allie sets her. Allie has a mischievous look on her face. I'm guessing that she's going to ask about Mr. Mystery. Sure enough, that's what this is about.

"Hey, Adrian, I want, I mean we want to know the name of the mystery guy you were talking about yesterday. Please. It won't hurt to tell us." Allie says.

"No. I won't. You guys are just going to tease me to the moon and back." Adrian replies.

"I promise we won't. If we do, you also know a lot of embarrassing stuff about us. Like the time I almost kissed Emmett or when Scarlett and Nathan had those weirdly intimate moments or when Allie and Evan..." Lauren trails off.

"Yep, this does seem like a fair deal. If we spill your beans, you spill ours. I know you won't. And you know we won't. We won't even tell Nate, Em and Evan. Just tell us already." Allie begs.

"Okay, fine you guys win. But I won't tell you the name straight away. I'll describe the guy I have the hots for. Let's see how well you three bitches can recognize hot guys in our grade." Adrian finishes.

We all agree. Boy, I've been waiting to know the name since yesterday. Which, I know, doesn't sound much, but when your best friend's keeping something as important as the name of her crush from you, a day isn't a lot different from a week in normal time. Plus, I'm pretty observant, so guessing this name is going to be a piece of cake.

"Okay, well, he's fair. He's tall. About as tall as Evan. Maybe an inch or two more. He's got black hair, black eyes. He's built okay. He's quite good at sports. And he's a smooth talker too...." Adrian trails off, clearly blushing.

Ah, well, he's a jock. I don't really do jocks or even observe them. This is going to be tough. Still, I try and analyze what we do have at hand. He's taller than Evan or at least as tall as him. That's gotta count for something. Evan is one of the tallest guys I know. Pair long limbs with dark hair and black eyes, and I think it narrows it down to about five guys in the grade.

Probably, only one is a jock. But I wouldn't know, since not one of the five is into books. They're all funny and nice, though. Even before I know the name, I am sure that this one's going to be better than Andrew was.

"Tyler Simpson?" I ask. Tyler's into music and he plays the banjos really well.

"Ah yes! He does suit the description. But, Scar, he ain't into sports. And he stutters. So, it isn't him. Anyone else you can think of?" Lauren shoots.

"Ben Miller?" I ask more expectantly. There's a greater chance of the guy being Ben, simply because we have less choices at hand. This way, advanced math does help in working out the name of your best friend's crush. Not exactly a money-making technique, but getting the name outta Adrian is like mining gold.

Adrian shakes her head before Lauren can tell me why I'm wrong. Allie is gazing out of the window, as if the answer is written there somewhere. She jumps up with a start.

"Oh, I know! It's Jake, isn't it?" She asks, a demented grin on her face.

"Allie Jones, sorry to take the fun out of this for you, but Jake isn't into sports. Neither does he have black eyes. He's got brown ones." I say. Allie looks a little disappointed but she just made it easier for me. I know who the guy is.
