Keonhee watched as the alpha dove under the water, then stared back down at the shell in his hand.
He didn't quite know what to make of what just happened. Sure, Leedo was friendly, although shy, but he was an alpha...
And Keonhee had no intention of ever being with an alpha again.
With his mood turning sour, the beta pushed himself off the ground and brushed the sand from his skin before dressing and turning to head home.
Hwanwoong and Youngjo were sitting together off to the side. The alpha had his arm wrapped around his omega and was smiling out at the open water. Hwanwoong peeked up at his alpha before leaning a little closer.
The sight made Keonhee smile. He knew something had happened with the small omega, but he wasn't going to press for details.
Sighing, he ruffled his wet, blonde hair and started to walk across the beach.
"Where are you going?" Youngjo asked when he noticed Keonhee leaving. His eyes darted to where Leedo was still in the water, then back to Keonhee.
"Home. I'm a little tired so I was going to lay down for a bit before going to check the traps." Keonhee offered a wide smile, hoping the alpha wouldn't push him.
Unfortunately, his hopes didn't come true.
"We just got here though, are you okay? I can send Leedo back with you so that you aren't alone." Youngjo's forehead creased with concern.
"No! No, that's okay." Keonhee lifted his hands and took a step back. "Let him enjoy his time. I'll be fine."
Before Youngjo could get another word in, Keonhee turned away and hurried down the path to their home.
Based on the alpha's reaction, he was now worried that Youngjo would try to force Leedo on him. And that was the last thing he wanted.
Keonhee knew he'd have to tell them he wasn't interested soon, but today just wasn't the day. Not with waking up from his own nightmare last night to hear that Leedo was having one of his own.
The mixture he had given the alpha was easy enough to make, and it had some powerful herbs in it that aided with sleeping. It had relaxed Leedo as soon as it had been rubbed into his chest.
After that, Keonhee had left his hut to go find a place where he could sit out in the open and get some fresh air. He was too scared to try and go back to sleep, because he knew the mixture wouldn't work on him...
There were many nights he had tried when he was on his own. It succeeded in helping him fall back asleep, but it never kept the nightmares away.
He had them almost every night now, and he had a feeling it was because he was around alphas again.
Keonhee was so thankful to have a place to call home where he could finally rest and not have to watch his back every second of the day. And deep down, he knew neither Youngjo or Leedo would hurt him. They didn't give off that aura and both had welcomed him to the pack without too many questions.
But his wolf recoiled whenever one got too close. It urged him to run away and not look back.
When he got back to their home, Keonhee started to walk to his hut but paused. Being in a small space was the last place he wanted to be.
So, he turned to where he had been given his own little plot of land to grow his own plants.
The bright green color brought a smile to his face as knelt down to pull out any weeds that were trying to overtake them. He had always liked the idea of gardening, nurturing something, and watching it grow, and he was thrilled that he was actually good at it. His parents had been farmers, so he had hoped that maybe that skill would be passed to him.
