I was doing simple farm work in my yard. It was just an average day.

Mother was tending to the little ones, and father was out collecting wood. So, I was basically alone when the sun was setting.

I was feeding the chickens when I glanced up at the cottage beside mine. I saw smoke coming out of the chimney.

I thought that cottage was abandoned, I asked to myself.

I was confused. Did someone just settle in there? It was empty yesterday. I then squinted, trying hard to look through the window, hoping to see someone inside. I didn't, which is what I expected most. I then sighed and looked away, continuing to do my farming duties.

Later, at dinner, I decided to ask my mother and father about it.

"Mother, father, do you know anything about the cottage next to ours? The one that was abandoned?" I questioned curiously.

My father cleared his throat at the question, "Ah, yes. We have," he replied blankly.

"Could you tell me about it?"

My mother and father exchanged glances, then my mother spoke up, "Well, someone moved into it earlier today. The new resident is an old woman by the name of Christina Loranne. She is from the town of Thornburrow."

My eyes widened in intrigue. Thornburrow was known for the common appearance of witches. In fact, they don't have a law against witchcraft. It's actually one of the few towns that welcome it.

"May I go visit Miss Loranne tomorrow?"

"For what reason?" my father questioned.

"To welcome her to the town," I answered.

My mother and father exchanged glances again. My mother then nodded, "Yes you may."

I smiled, "Thank you, mother."

I wonder what the decor in Miss Loranne's house would be like. How the furniture would be arranged.

But, more importantly, I wondered...

Is Miss Loranne a witch?
