AUTHORS NOTES:

hi, this is my first ff (its 3k+ words) and i hope you enjoy it....please let me know if there are any changes you would make....love you lots <3

Y/N didn't even want to go to Korea that summer... but little did she know that her life would change forever because of that decision.

"Y/N GET THE FRIG UP!"

The yells of your mom interrupt your peaceful sleep. You grudgingly get up and head to the bathroom. You didn't even want to go to Korea. You wanted to spend the summer with your best friends as they invited you to Florida at one of your best friends' parents' beach house. You thought you were going to be able to go to Korea and go to Florida, but once you found out the dates, you realized that they were the same times. "Family is more important than friends, Y/N," your mom says disapprovingly. "I go to Korea every year, Mom! Please let me go to Florida with my friends!" you beg. "No, Y/N, and that's my final decision... you truly don't understand the importance of family, and it upsets me." You replay the conversation in your head and brush your teeth. You were so sick of your mom controlling your life, and you can't wait to go to college. You had only one more year left until you get out of the same town you have lived in all your life in Indiana. As you continue to get ready, you hear your three sisters running outside your door. You roll your eyes and go back to your room to get changed. You decide on some black leggings, an oversized crop top, and some Converse. After packing your bags, you head out into the chaos, which is your family. You see two of your sisters pulling on each other's hair and one of your sisters crying. "Get off of each other!" you say, pulling the two sisters apart. "What happened Nini," you say, comforting your crying sister while hugging her. Nini, the youngest, is a sensitive and quiet 7-year-old, unlike the loud and often annoying 9-year-old twins, Emily and Emma. "They yanked my hair," she said with tears in her eyes. You glare at the twins. "I told you to stop picking on her! She's younger than you and doesn't like rough playing". They stick out their tongues and run away. You roll your eyes again and hold Nini's hand as you walk downstairs into the kitchen. Once your mom sees an upset Nini, she already knows what happened. "The twins?" she asks. You nod my head and drop my backpack by the door while Nini runs to my mom. You watch as she comforts Nini. Nini has always been my mom's favorite. She and Nini hold such a special bond due to their similarities. Their quiet demeanor. Their love for knitting and crafting. Pretty much the opposite of you. You are a bubbly, loud, and adventurous 18-year-old who can't stand crafting and would rather be on a spontaneous adventure. You grab an apple and make a coffee and head into the car for some peace and quiet. Once you get into the passenger's seat, you scroll through your Instagram feed. You look through all of the KPOP stan accounts you follow. You are a massive KPOP fan and love the community that the fandoms have. Also, not to mention, it reminds you of home. Your ultimates are TWICE, Red Velvet, BTS, and TXT. Your favorite one, though, will always be TXT. Their music is so upbeat, and the boys are funny, caring, and beyond talented. You scroll by a picture of Hueningkai and sigh. He is your ultimate bias, and not to mention he is only a year behind you. You had always wished that all the boys at your school were like TXT, but that's a fantasy that will never happen.

After a rocky and long flight from Indiana to New York, and then to Seoul, you are finally home. Although you are still annoyed that you aren't able to go to Florida, you sigh with happiness when you see your favorite city. You watch the cars pass by while your mom and other sisters go get your bags. You snap back to reality when you realize your mom is yelling at you to help with the bags. Once you get all of your luggage, your mom gets a cab, and so the journey to your grandparent's house begins. You zone your family the entire car ride as you put in your earbuds and watch the beautiful scenery of South Korea. You pass by the flowery trees, tall skyscrapers, and the thousands of people walking, eating, and touring. Once you arrive at your grandparent's, the cab driver helps your family unload your luggage on your grandparent's doorstep. Once you see the face of your beloved Grandma, you immediately don't regret coming to Korea. You run over to her and give her a massive hug. Your Grandma was your favorite thing in the entire world... she is, honestly, more of a mom to you than your actual mom. You tell her everything, and you call almost daily telling her about boy and friend drama and the stresses of school. She always has your back, and you got hers. "How is my beautiful granddaughter doing?" she says with a massive smile on her face. "I am doing great, Grandma! Where's Grandpa?" you say, looking around for him. "Mom, you are seriously going to let her call you Grandma? You aren't even American," my mom says, carrying luggage. You shrink back in embarrassment. You don't know a lot of Korean because you moved to America when you were 1. So you are very accustomed to the American way. Your mom considers you a disappointment because Nini is fluent in Korean and English. "I am so sorry, I always forget how to pronounce it in Korean," you say flustered. "No, sweetie, it is fine, I really don't care," she says with a smile on her face. Your mom looks like she is about to burst out in rage, but instead of yelling, she huffs and leaves. You silently curse and are about to turn inside when my Grandma turns me, "Y/N, she loves you a lot... you two are just... different" "No, she doesn't Grandma. I am sick of her constant nagging and disapproval. I get straight A's, I don't drink or do drugs, I am in all AP's and Honors, I never miss school! I... I just don't know what to do," You say, unable to control your emotions. She pulls you into a hug, and you sob into her shirt. "Y/N, everything will be okay, I always have your back, okay?" You nod your head, and right before you are about to leave, you see your mom in the window of the door staring at you and Grandma. She quickly turns away and goes back to talking to Nini.
