Sister, Sister Too

Every town harbors secrets, some of which are concealed beneath houses and others concealed within family photographs.

Some individuals vanish into the woods and are never mentioned again. Then there was MysticFalls, California—a place where humans could shop for groceries alongside vampires.

Werewolves attended school alongside witches, sirens serenaded patrons at local coffee shops without raising an eyebrow, and individuals with broken arms could enter doctor's offices, only to find receptionists with three eyes.

Normal? Absolutely not. But around here? Completely fucking normal. MysticFalls had always been different.

Nestled amidst vast forests, snow-capped mountains, concealed lakes, and an abundance of supernatural occurrences that could drive even the most rational person to madness, the town had become a sanctuary for beings who were anything but human.

We identified ourselves as various entities, including vampires, werewolves, witches, sirens, sphinxes, nature spirits, skin-walkers, and hybrids.

For generations, humans and various breeds have learned to coexist, albeit imperfectly.  Prejudices and old grudges persist.

Forbidden relationships, families bound by the belief that certain bloodlines should never mix, and secrets capable of destroying entire households.

MysticFalls, and we, somehow survived. My name is Anyse Latoya Caldwell, but everyone calls me Nene.

If you're curious about what makes me unique, I'd like to share that I'm just an ordinary seventeen-year-old girl.

My days typically consist of going to school, dancing, coming home, arguing with my sister, eating everything in the refrigerator, and finally going to sleep. It's a simple routine.

Except I'm not normal. Not even close. I'm a hybrid, a unique being in MysticFalls. I possess the traits of a witch, a werewolf, a skin-walker, a Vetter, and a human. I belong to five different bloodlines, yet I share a single body and a single soul. I'm a girl, but I'm anything but ordinary.

My existence is incredibly complicated, and then there's my sister.  She's my twin, my other half, my best friend, and my biggest headache.  She's probably the only person in the world who can make me want to commit murder before breakfast.

Amayah Latoya Caldwell, unlike me, isn't part werewolf, skin-walker, or Vetter. Instead, she's part witch, part vampire, and part human, belonging to three different bloodlines. Despite this, her life remains complicated.

Still powerful.

Still a pain in my ass.

We aren't identical twins.

We don't look exactly alike.

We don't act alike.

Sometimes, I can't help but wonder how we came from the same mother. I'm quiet, while she's loud. I'm cautious, but she's reckless. I prefer the tranquility of the lake to the chaos of a party.

May? Put on some music and watch her effortlessly find the nearest dance floor. But there's one thing that no one can ever take away from us—we're sisters.
