The long awaited day has come. The day where she could finally get to know whether she was allowed to one of the most wonderful and enchanting dances in the entire country. Hannah was her name, one of the most normal girls ever, her life wasn't anything different of more special than that from the rest of us. That's the exact reason why she wasn't expecting to be granted to the masquerade ball. Thousands of normal civilians applied to it every other year but only a couple of them were permitted to go. This year it was Hannah's turn to be the most enticing female there and to steal every man's heart by hiding behind a mask. Or at least that was what happened it all of her dreams from the past week.
Hannah had already ran to the mailbox a couple of times to see if the mail already arrived. She was just on edge the entire time, not knowing what she will do if her application got denied. It wasn't the first year she applied for the dance, but she just had a good feeling about this year.
Suddenly the doorbell rang, she was quite confused as she wasn't expecting anyone over today. Hannah walked over to the door and opened it. Seeing a man dressed up in a black suit with a masquerade mask on. This couldn't be anything else that her invitation. 'Is this miss Perry?' the man asked her.
Hannah nodded trying to suppress her rising nervousness. The tall man cleared his throat and pulled out a wooden box. It was extremely pretty and even though it was just wood she had the feeling it was quite expensive.
'Take this box as your invitation to the upcoming masquerade ball on August 21th at precisely eight o'clock.' The mysterious figure said and handed Hannah the box. He spoke up again: 'a carriage will be here and you are to be expected to stick to the strict dress code in the box. Wear the mask in the box as your entrance ticket.'
Hannah nodded and looked at the box before she looked up at the male again. She wanted to thank him but as she lifted her head, he vanished in thin air. Hannah frowned and closed the door again, walked to her kitchen and put the wooden box on her marble counter top. She opened the box and on top of a satin cushion was a beautiful silver mask with some rhinestones. Sticking to the lid of the box was an envelope engraved with golden cursive letters that said her name. She opened the envelope and read the letter that was clearly handwritten by someone with elegant handwriting.

Hannah was absolutely stunned, she read the letter twice as it was still sinking in that this was a real thing. That she actually was going to the ball. She pinched herself a few times, looked at all clocks visible and counted her fingers countless of times to check if this wasn't a dream. But it wasn't, this was reality. Now the next thing she could do, was stress about what dress she will buy, what haircut she will get, how her makeup will be and if she should get a manicure with new acrylics
