Int. The bus
Marcy Calder stands near the back of a crowded bus, holding onto a pole to keep from falling over.
Marcy calder
(crashing into someone's knee)
Sorry ma'am!
Passenger 1
Young ladies these days. So stuck up.
Marcy watches sadly as the woman gets up and switches seats with the person next to her, who glares at Marcy.
Passenger 2
Watch it, girl.
MarcY CALDER
(weakly)
I'm really sorry.
Bus driver
Next stop is Riverside Prep!
MARCY CALDER
Excuse me, excuse me.
Marcy weaves through the bus until she reaches the front, where she grabs onto a pole to keep from crashing forward as the bus lurches to a stop.
Bus DRIVER
You getting off here?
MARCY CALDER
Yes, sir.
The door snaps open and Marcy stumbles out, a half block away from the school. She pulls out her phone as she walks.
Close up to marcy's phone.
Marcy hits the button to call her mother on the phone. She holds it up to her ear and we hear it ring. And ring.
Mrs. Calder's voicemail
You've reached Mrs. Calder's voicemail. Please leave a message after the beep.
Marcy sighs audibly and attempts to call her dad.
Mr. Calder's voicemail
This is John Calder. I'm not here so stop bugging me. Oh, and don't bother leaving a message.
Marcy then tries to call her siblings.

Marcy drops her phone into her backpack and rolls her eyes as she gets swallowed up by the crowd of Riverside Prep students when she reaches campus.
