19. The 21st birthday

Lucy PoV

I woke up to find Harry awake looking over at me. i didn't say anything to begin with and we just looked at each other with eyes full of love.

''happy birthday my love'' he whispers as he leans to kiss me

''thank you'' i whisper back as i start to wake up

''come on then'' harry announces as he gets out of bed and reaches his hand out for me

''no, let's just lie here for a while''

''nope. let's go'' he tells me and i reluctantly stand up, grab my phone and follow Harry out of the room

we walk downstairs in the house that we rented as a group and everyone was there. little confetti cannons went of, flashes of cameras and lots of singing and shouting. it was so nice and totally unexpected

''Happy 21st'' Freya tells me first as we share a hug, then i went along and hugged everyone else before we sat down in the living room with all the balloons and presents surrounding me on the couch. 

i then sat on Harry's legs on the chair to open cards and presents that filled the coffee table next to me whilst everyone else was around us on the floor or the couch. its a really nice feeling to be surrounded by all of this for a special birthday and luckily for me it was the third birthday i was spending with an incredible group of people.

when i was growing up, my parents didn't really care about my birthdays and it was never a big deal, it was just any other day of the year. then, when i lived alone, my friends always made it really special and all i got from my parents was a card written out by their assistant.

Harry poV

later in the day we went into a bar to have drinks, it was the first time Lucy could drink on the holiday whenever we went out somewhere because their drinking age isn't 18. it was a really nice day and i think Lucy enjoyed it, she has had a massive smile on her face all day. it was just relaxed but spending it in New York just added a huge boost to the day

''to Lucy'' i say as we all toast a glass of Champagne around our table

''thank you'' Lucy replies and we all have a drink and she kisses my cheek

the group was chatting and i was just staring over at Lucy who had a beaming smile on her face. i loved seeing her smile like that and i loved that my friends became her friends and there was never any awkward time with us as a group.

its also mad to think that this is Lucy's third birthday that i have spent with her already, and that soon i would have spent three years of my life with her, and i am so glad i stumbled and poured that drink on her. at the time i was so embarrassed by it, but if i didn't then we would never have gotten here. and i am so happy to have gotten here.
