"If Esther wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why." Elena says, setting the note down.

"Well that's a dumb idea, she already tried to kill you once. And who knows what Klaus is gonna pull with Scar." He says making me roll my eyes.

"No, Elena is right. Bonnie was led to open that coffin for a reason. I think there is more to this than just some family reunion." Stefan defends which kinda makes sense.

"And I've never been to a ball." I say with a small smile in excitement.

"And I should find out what she wants." Elena adds, as we both look to Damon waiting for approval.

"You two can't protect yourself, definitely not in a house full of originals."

"Okay fine, then we'll all go. Protect em both." Stefan says with a slight shrug.

"I'm pretty sure I'll be fine." I say, standing from my seat and closing the box with the dress. I definitely didn't want Stefan or Damon hovering over me during the party.

Stefan then snatches my invitation from my hand.

"Hey!"

"End of story." He says, before casually walking off. I huff in annoyance before taking my dress and exiting to my room.

"It's all so weird. The Originals are throwing a ball. Like an actual ball." Elena explains to Caroline as I sip the iced coffee in my hand.

"I'm offended I wasn't even invited. Parties are like my thing, everyone knows that." She says, crossing her arms in annoyance.

"Consider yourself lucky. Scarlett and I will not only be dealing with the Mikaelsons, but two antsy Salvatore body guards. " She sighs as I nod in agreement.

"Well, I think a Salvatore would look a lot better in a tux. And by that I mean Stefan." She smirks making me scrunch up my nose.

"I think dumb and dumber would look better far away from the ball. One of them is bound to cause trouble. My money is on Damon." I say making Caroline laugh.

"Whatever Stefan is feeling, he is channeling it all against Klaus. And Damon...it's just not a good idea for either to come." Elena says, shaking her head.

"Why, cause you two made out? Bonnie spilled the beans." Caroline speaks making my mouth form an "o". Just outed her like that.

"I was gonna tell you. Just, after everything happened with your dad..." Elena begins, I find myself zoning out of the conversation slightly. I was kinda excited for tonight.

Maybe I just wanted to wear that dress. Or I was slightly relieved Klaus wasn't locked up in a box. Lets just go with the first choice for my sake.

A familiar blonde approaches our small table and I find myself almost smiling.

"Scarlett, I hope to see you at the ball tonight." She speaks with a smile. I nod.

"I'll be there." I say making her smile grow before her eyes flicker to Elena. Her glare hardens.

"Careful, you two. It's all well and good until she stabs you in the back." She spits, obviously angered at the brunette.

"What are you doing here? I know your mom's rules. No hurting the locals." Elena speaks quietly.

"Get over yourself Elena. It's not all about you." Rebekah says, rolling her eyes before turning on her heel and strutting off to Matt.

We see her hand him an invitation.

"Oh my god. She's inviting him to the ball. Why is she inviting him? Why am I the only one not getting invited?" She asks almost in a panic.

"Your only invited if a Mikaelson specifically wants you there." Elena says, still following Rebekah with her eyes. Carolines eyes snap to me in confusion.

"We all know the evil witch wants Elena there for whatever reason. But why you?" She asks as I shrug slightly.

"Ask Klaus." Elena mutters, kinda bitterly. Caroline gasps slightly before sending me a smirk.

"Oh really? Are you doing it with an Original? I mean vampires and wolves are pretty rough I can't imagine what a hybrid could do." She says deadass seriously. I loved Caroline but kinda awkward to bring up around my sister.

She may be right tho...

I scoff at the remark, trying to hide the heat rising to my cheeks. I wasn't doing anything with Klaus. Had it crossed my mind? Maybe. But he's also a whole enemy. Gotta remind myself sometimes.

"Gross, Caroline."
