I sheepishly checked my look in the countertop mirror and breathed an inner sigh of relief. My shoulder-length, dark-layered hairstyle was still intact.

Whew!

Running my fingers once through the bouncy hairdo, I nonchalantly glanced down at Brad's hand.

Drats!

His wedding band, yet again, mentally smacked me in the face, telling me to back off.

"No," Brad said through an enigmatic smile. "Nothing's wrong. I just...what do you think of those, Yvonne?" His forefinger tapped the counter glass over a pair of golden looped earrings. "Would she like them?"

But despite my hopes, I had to face the fact that for the past six months, ever since I was hired, Brad's purchases of sparkling diamonds, perfectly sculptured gold pieces, and expensive jade were all for his wife. He had no eyes for me—for good reason. Nonetheless, it was becoming more difficult to deny my inner feelings for him.
