30 minutes later
"Luca Cooper." Rue spoke hurriedly to the nurse at the front desk.
"Oh, Room 104 last door down the hall." She spoke flatly as she typed away on her computer.
Rue nodded as she turned the twins stroller and headed down the hall and to the room.
She knocked twice before she went in. She pushed the twins all the way in and then laid eyes on the two sleeping men.
Mateo had his hand on Lucas good hand and Luca had his head resting on Mateos.
"Oh my baby boy." She whispered quietly as she walked over to the right side of his bed opposite of Mateo. She bent down and kissed the top of his head stirring him awake.
Luca slowly opened his eyes and leaned back up on the bed then he turned his head towards his mother.
"Hi mommy." He whispered sleepy as he smiled up at his almost crying mom.
"Hi baby." She smiled as she brushed his hair back.
Mateo slowly started to groan and sit up. He rubbed his neck and then his eyes.
He looked towards the door first, seeing the stroller. He raised eyebrow then looked over towards Luca and saw Rue. He quickly sat up straight.
"Hi Rue." He said as normally as possible.
"Mateo." She answered back dead-panned. "Thank you for calling me."
Mateo nodded as his eyes glided back towards the stroller. "Are those the-"
"Yes." Rue answered cutting him off as she continued checking on Luca.
"There are only two seats.." Mateo trailed off as he became glued to the stroller.
Rues body stiffed and she shifted on her feet. She slowly swallowed then licked her now dry lips.
"Yes." She answered as she blinked back her tears. "Um, Wyatt didn't," She paused as she swallowed once again fighting back her tears, "He didn't make it." She answered as one of the twins began to cry.
She walked over and unbuckled Jazlyn. She picked her up and began to rock her and gently bounce her in her arms.
Rue smiled as she turned and faced Luca. "Luca, meet your baby sister, Jazlyn." She walked over to the side of his bed and bent down so he had a better view.
Luca stared down at the baby who was staring back at him.
"She is tiny." Luca smiled as he reached over and ran his finger over her knuckles causing her to hold onto his finger. Luca smiled wider at his mom. "Does she like me?" He asked as he looked back down at his sister.
"Definitely." Rue smiled as she laid Jazlyn down on Lucas right side with Lucas arm around her and finger still in her tiny hand.
Jazlyn yawned and turned her body so her face was buried in Lucas side. Luca brushed the side of her head as she slowly started to fall asleep.
Rue smiled and walked back over to the stroller. She bent down and took Kaiden out. Kaiden giggled as Rue kissed his nose. Luca looked up away from Jazlyn and to his mom.
"Is that Kaiden?" Luca asked as she walked over to him.
"It is." She smiled. Luca looked down at the tiny boy who giggled as the bubble he blew with his saliva popped.
"He's silly." Luca laughed as Kaiden grabbed his own toe and started to try and chew on it.
"That he is." Rue smiled.
Mateo who was no watching Jazlyn curled up beside Luca looked up at Kaiden who looked back at him.
"Can I-" He stopped hisself remembering the reason he left.
"Yes." Rue answered already knowing what he was going to ask. Rue walked over to Mateo and laid Kaiden in his arms. "Hold his head." She instructed as Mateo slowly adjusted to the tiny body.
Mateo stared down at the big brown eyes and smiled. He looked up at Luca who was already asleep with Jazlyn right along with him. He looked over at Rue who was moving the stroller further into the room. And then he looked down at Kaiden who released the tiniest yawn and grabbed Mateos shirt trying to pull hisself closer to Mateos body. Kaiden slowly put his own thumb in his mouth and started to fall asleep. Rue grabbed Jazlyns blanket and laid it over her. She slowly sat down on the couch next to Mateo and bit her lip.
"They aren't that bad are they?" She asked him as she faced him.
"What?" He asked confused.
"Kaiden and Jazlyn, they aren't as bad as you thought are they?" She asked again as she brushed some of Kaidens hair out of his face.
"No, they aren't." He answered as he looked down at the little child in his arms.
"Something you should know." She looked up at him making dead eye contact.
He raised a eyebrow and hummed for her to continue.
"I put your name as the father in the birth certificates."
