"Me neither," Sophie said. "I'm not coordinated enough to do it,"

"It doesn't matter," Biana said with an epic eye-roll. "You're all going to learn how to do it—and I don't care if you hate it or not! Now, first, you're going to take your yarn and make a loop." Biana showed them all by taking her pink yarn and bringing her hands together to make a little loop. "Then you're going to pull the yarn that's unattached to the ball and pull it through the loop."

Biana continued to explain the process, and Sophie and the rest of her friends tried their best to follow along. It seemed that Sophie, Jensi, Maruca and Tam were not gifted with knitting skills, and Linh, Fitz, Biana, and Dex were.

As they kept on knitting—and watching Frosty the Snowman—there was a knock on Biana's door before Alvar came into the room.

"Wow," He said, looking at all of them knitting with an amused smile on his face. "You all look like little old ladies knitting."

Biana raised an eyebrow at him. "You can't talk Mr. I-Won-The-Knitting-Contest-Every-Year-In-High-School."

"Wait," Fitz said. "There's a knitting contest at Foxfire?"

"Yep!" Biana said with a grin. "And I won last year and this year,"

"Woah," Jensi said, blinking.

Biana shrugged before turning back to Alvar. "Anyway—what're you doing here?"

"I love you too," Alvar said sarcastically. "But mom's fixing dinner and she wants to know if your friends want to stay?"

Biana and Fitz looked at the rest of them and they all shrugged their shoulders.

"That's a yes," Fitz said with a laugh.

Alvar nodded, but before he left, Biana stopped him. "Oh—and Alvar?"

"What?" Alvar asked, turning back around.

"I love you," She said with a smile.

Alvar smiled and said, "Love you too," before he left.

It was quiet for only a second before Tam whispered, "Does anyone else feel super uncomfortable about what just happened?"

Biana glared at him—but she had a smile on her face—before she threw a ball of yarn at his face. "What?—you don't tell Linh that you love her?"

"Of course I do," He said, his face turning a little pink as he swatted the ball of yarn away. "Just not in front of all my friends,"

Linh didn't look very pleased with that answer, but she didn't say anything as the eight of them kept on watching the movie and knitting.

"Ugh!" Sophie exclaimed as she messed up the scarf she was making for the twentieth time. "That's it!" She tossed it onto the ground . "I'm watching TV,"

"Me too," Tam, Jensi, and Maruca all said, following Sophie to a spot on the floor in front of the TV.

Biana , Fitz, Dex, and Linh shrugged as they kept knitting, and after a few more minutes Della called them all downstairs for dinner.

The eight of them decided to eat outside, and during a small conversation, Maruca gasped.

Sophie looked over and saw that she was grinning at her phone. "What happened?" She asked her.

Maruca's smile grew. "My mom said that Wylie's coming to California for break!"

Everyone was absolutely ecstatic by the news, but Linh more so. None of them had seen Wylie since the Summer, but Sophie had suspected that Linh had a small crush on the College Freshman.

"That's wonderful!" Linh exclaimed, her eyes widening and her face turning a light shade of pink. "When's he coming up here?"

"Well," Maruca said, looking back down at her phone. "He has to finish up some things for his class—but he should get here sometime tomorrow."

Linh looked even more excited as she continued to ask Maruca questions about her cousins' homecoming.

It was honestly super sweet, and Sophie and Biana couldn't help but to share knowing looks as she conversation wore on.

"Do you want me to drive you home?" Fitz asked Sophie as everyone started to get ready to leave.

Sophie shook her head. "No thanks—Edaline said she had something important to tell me when she picked me up, so I'm a little curious,"

They walked out the front door and down the porch steps before Fitz said, "Well, I guess I'll see you later,"

"Yeah," Sophie said, wrapping him in a hug before she noticed that Edaline had just pulled into the driveway. "Bye,"

Fitz waved her bye as Sophie got in the passenger's seat and put her seatbelt on as Edaline drove away.

"So," Sophie said, turning to her mom. "What'd you want to tell me?"

Edaline smiled. "Your Aunt and Uncle are coming over this evening for Christmas break."

Sophie blinked. "Kesler and Juline?"

Edaline shook her head as they pulled into their driveway. "No—Grady's cousin and his wife."

Sophie's eyes widened. She hoped Edaline was joking, but as they got out of the car, Sophie could already see another familiar car sitting there. "Oh no,"
