Yokai

He shuffled where he sat and watched her. He couldn't find a village headband on her so she could have been a ninja.

'A villager? But that ridiculous, I'm a few hours out of the village.' He blinks when he notices the girl shuffle.

'She's alive. Why is she not close to the fire?' He thought as he stood up and walked over to her. His cloak came into her view. Her head bobbed before raising it up. Kakashi got a good look at her eyes. They were purple and shined brightly.

"Your awake." She spoke softly. Kakashis eyes widen behind his mask but quickly changed that.

"Who are you?" He asked as she stood up fully to expose more of her white kimono.

"My name is Niko. Pleasure to meet you." She bows formally before looking at him. He debated on giving her his name and he thought against it.

"From your posture, I am debating you won't give me a name but that is quite alright. I expect nothing less from an ANBU." She said. Kakashi scowls and backs away a few feet. She raised her hands up to show nothing on her.

"I am not ninja like you are nor skilled in killing enemies." She announced. She looked to the fire.

"I am guessing you here to look for the killer of those people?" Niko asked the boy. His body stiffened but he nodded.

"All I ask is that you are careful-" her eyes narrowed at the fire.

"-that thing is out for blood.." Kakashi ponders and decided to ask questions.

"You know of the killer?" She looked at him with a sorrow expression.

"She was the previous goddess of this temple. People stopped coming to this temple because of all the bears and wolves, they didn't want to risk getting killed.. The killer is my mother... she has become a Yukinba.." he was confused on her story.

'Goddess? Is even such a thing? And this is the goddess's daughter?' He thought and narrowed.

"Yuki.. nba?" She tilted her head and nodded.

"They are what they call Snow Hags. My mother was once a beautiful woman but she suddenly changed over a month ago. Now she is just some ugly.. one footed yokai.." her face cringes as she tears up. Kakashi stood awkwardly. He wasn't a people person so he didn't know how to comfort the girl.

"If she is a yokai.. are you too a yokai?" Niko remained quiet as she wipes her tears with her sleeve.

"I am the new goddess of this temple.. though because a lot of people have forgotten about me, I am very weak.. I am known to what is called a Yuki Onna." she explained.

'A snow woman?' He listened.

"I was able to form a barrier around the temple so my mother can't destroy it but... I can't protect the village... I put up spells to cloak the village in snow storms to hide them but that seemed to make everything worse.." her gaze saddened.

"The hunters can't see anything and my mother or hungry large animals attacks them." She explains. "Why not put a barrier around the village?" Kakashi asked.
