"I think we are done here.." he lifted his palm to his mid waist and the sound of a thousand birds echoes. His palm lit up and crackled. The yokai shook her head. Her face was full of cuts and blood. Kakashi stares blankly at the spirit and remembers Niko's bloody body in the snow. He scowls and lifted his arm. The crackling noise was louder than ever.

"No." The yokai kept muttering the same word over and over again. Kakashi didn't hesitate.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

His hand when through the head and destroyed the brain. The yokai laid limp. The sound of the birds quietened. He thrusts out of the head and swiped his hand to get rid of the brain matter and blood that covered his hand. He walked over to the single burning candle and picked it up.

"Kakashi?" His eyes widen and swiveled his gaze to see the familiar yokai at the mouth of the cave.

"Niko.." he whispered. Her bare feet entered the cave and walked towards the body. She stared longingly at it. Her expression saddened.

"I'm so-" she shook her head.

"It needed to be done." She choked on her words and tried to hide her face. Kakashis eyes softened as he set the candle down and walked over to her. He carefully pulled her into a loving hug and listened to her cry into his uniform.

"Still I am sorry for your loss.." he said petting her hair. He leaned against the walls and let Niko cry to her heart's content. Once she was down, she pulled away and looked at the body again and sniffed.

"C-Can I do it?" He tilted his head confused.

"B-burn the body.." she finished. His eyes widen before going back to his softened gaze.

"If you want.. you have every right to.." he whispered as he tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. She blushes at the gesture and slipped her fingers into his. She gently pulled him to the candle and picked it up.

The warmth was uncomfortable for her unlike Kakashis but she still sucked it up and walked over to the fallen yokai. She began burning the corpse and once the body ignited, Kakashi moved Niko away from the fire and outside the cave. Kakashi ached but he pulled Niko close as they watched the body burn in the cave. His blood soaked her kimono.

After the body turned to ashes, kakashi was treated under Kisha. He requested Niko to stay by him as he recovered and Niko quickly agreed to his request.

Niko has kakashis head in her lap. He was sleeping. He just set word to his village that the mission was successful and will he recovering for a few days in the village before going home.

Kisha went to the cave earlier upon a Nikos request to retrieve Kakashis broken mask.

As he slept on her, she carefully put the  pieces back together one by one. When Kakashi finally stirs awake, Niko finished putting the last piece together and applied a cream that laid beside her to keep it from coming off. She noticed his gaze and looked down.

"I fixed your mask." She said quietly as she combed his hair. He was silent. He could feel the cold air on his lips but to his surprise he was warm. His mask was in shreds and his face where it was once covered had to be treated so he couldn't put on his spare.

"Thank you." He finally said. Niko looked away to hide her blush.

'His face is so handsome!' She squealed shyly. Kakashi sat up and sighed.

"It is time for me to head back..." he said as he looked out. They sat outside in the shade and the sound of the wind chime gave off the relaxing feeling. Niko looked at the floor and frowned. She didn't want him to leave.... but she knew she can't keep him here. Kakashi looked behind him to notice her expression. His eyes softened as as he moved over to her.

"Hey..." he whispered softly. Niko looked up at him with a frown not bothering to hide her expression. He cupped her cheek and pets it with his thumb. He smiled as she leaned into it and over lapped his hand with hers.

"Niko.." her gaze met his and as he pressed his forehead against hers....

their noses brushed against each other...

their lips tickled together.

"Marry me Niko.." Kakashi whispers. He knew he was pushing it but he couldn't help it. He knew he wanted her and he wanted to take that chance before it was stripped away from him. Niko's eyes widen.

"Are you.. are you sure?" She whispers. He didn't hesitate to nod.

"I love you Niko. Even after a short while, you are the only one that understands me.. I have lost a lot of people in my life... and I don't want to lose you too... not in any shape or form.. I want to call you mine.. nobody else's.." he admits. Niko tears up and nods. She knew that the past, some her ancestors married humans... some lived happily, others in misery. But she knew that Kakashi was the one for her. She pushed her lips against his and like she thought....

It fits perfectly.

........

"Kakashi Sensei's wife... is a yokai?" Naruto tilted his head confused. The old man nodded.

"I don't believe it.." Sasuke rolled his eyes.

"I thought it was really cute!" Sakura blushes heavily as she listened intensely.

"They were so gentle to one another..." he mutters as he breathed in a gentle sigh.

"How do you know that story if you were not there for most of it?" Sakura asked crossing her arms. The old man chuckled at the young one trying to poke holes at his story.

"It's a famous story around here. Come. I'll take you to the temple." He said as he starts to walk off.

"But isn't the path to the temple dangerous?" Naruto asked as the three young ninjas followed him outside.

"That my boy was many years ago.. the Yuki Onna is now a young woman. She is stronger than ever and protected this village under her watchful eye. We can now safely walk up there and pray at her temple and hold many festivals." He chirped with a bounce in his step.

Once they reached the temple, people surrounded the alter and prayed in silent while smaller kids played in the snow. The three young ninjas were at awe at how well kept it was and quickly turned to find their teacher.

Kakashi slide the door open and looked around. He stepped inside and took off his shoes before walking in further. He was silent as he looked around the house more until he came to a familiar room. He quietly opened the door to reveal the back of a woman. His gaze softened as he walked up to her. The woman hugged a small silver haired child in her lap. The boy clings to her tightly. The woman noticed his presence and turned her head towards him. Exposing her soft purple gaze.

"Welcome home Kakashi.." she spoke lovingly as Kakashi sat behind her and pulled her into his lap, cradling his wife and child and pressed his clothed lips to against her dark hair.

"I'm home Niko.."
