The Finale

212 60 64

At new beginnings I'd just begun to smile
When you stabbed me with words so vile

And helplessly as I fell
Receding footsteps I could tell

As I lay there limp and pale
I remembered the time you lifted my veil

Those times when I lived a blissful life
As your completely devoted wife

But bit by bit broke apart we
You forgot 'us' - only talked about you and me

And day by day the arguments would increase
In leaving you I finally found my release

And now even as I struggled for air
Your deafening victory continued to blare
