A prize.

That's all she ever was. A prize to be won by a man. Angelica knew this, the outcome would be evident. She would marry a rich man, making him the king of England her at his side. They would have children and she would lavish in her luxury for the rest of her days.

Alas, for her this just could never make her truly happy. Angelica does not want a man, nor his children. A man's eyes will always be drawn to the raven haired beauty in a ballroom, but this girls eyes would be drawn to the lady's.

A man could never satisfy her.

Though a women sure could.

Though, deep down, her heart knows this could never happen. Her family would spit at her name and strip Angelica of her titles. This is why only her most trusted maid, Mary, knows of her deep desire because she has them to.

Mary also longs for a life where she could marry a women and live in a small cottage in the hills. This is why the pair are so close. It could never be anything more than platonic love though, they are as close as sisters.

Their secret combining the two to an eternity of friendship.

Though as Angelica looks out from her window high in the palace, the breeze nipping at her pink lips, she cant help wonder of a life with a women by her side. A life at sea maybe...

No, these silly thoughts can simply not do. She has work to do, a ball to be ready for.

Tonight a ball would be held in her honor to find her self a courtship. Tonight she would find a filthy rich man, accept his courtship, and begin to "fall" for him. Angelica knows he will only want to title of "King", a filthy title if she may say so.

As King you have the blood of many innocent people of your hands, as king your a cruel, evil dictator.

This is why I long to leave this world.

I want to sail away, a pretty lady by my side, my sister with me, though this dream could never be.

I sigh a bit, slowly turning away from the windowsill. I walk towards the light blue dress on my bed. I run my fingers over the silk, it pains me to think that while i'm here in luxury down in the kingdom a child will go starving tonight.

Suddenly, piping hot anger boils inside of me. Why does his kingdom i lavish in have to have such horrible morals. This is why I long to leave this dreadful palace.

I slip the blue silk over by body, blue draping over my arms and legs. I let the maids curl my hair black hair as I look into my eyes n the mirror, my eyes have the blood of a hierarchy that has killed thousands of innocents.

This is the reason i despise my emerald eyes.

The Midnight Ball, the biggest ball of the year. The ball where a princess finds herself a courtier.

What a stupid reason to have a ball.

I look around at the crowd I now stand in. I may be in a room full of life and music, but I've never felt so alone. There are maidens waltzing with the gentlemen, toasts and speeches happening, conversations filled with laughter are everywhere. Though I cant find a reason to laugh.

I hear a squeak of delight as I turn my head to see my younger sister Penelope walking towards me.

"Angie! Look at all these fine young men! Their all vying for your attention, why don't you dance with one?" Sweet Penny, a beauty to behold. She is my third youngest sibling, and has always caught the attention of men.

"I know my dear but i'm feeling a tad flustered, I think I shall take a step outside."

Her smile drops for a second before picking back up again, "Ah yes, we don't want your makeup being smudged off by sweat. It is best for you to take a walk."

Without another word I dash out of the ballroom, my breathing begin to be come labored as I run down the hall way towards the garden.

As i dash into the moonlit garden, i take a look at my surroundings. Green paints the walls on the big hedges, pink flowers bloom on the trees making a calming essence. The moon paints the sky in a way so breathtaking I cant begin to explain its sheer beauty.

I walk through the garden, and without me knowing Mary joins my side silently, her flaming red hair picking up slightly in the wind. Her eyes become illuminated in the light, blue and clear like a summers day.

I smile at her, Mary returning it. We both long to be somewhere else.

Somewhere far far away.

That was my last thought before a hard hand grabs my waist pulling myself into them. Then the world went black.
