Chapter 44| Platform 9

Start from the beginning

Not a moment later, Midoriya came back at him, catching him a bit off guard.

"Is that all you got Kaachan?!"

"HAH?!"

The sudden emotion provoked him farther as he launched himself upwards towards the other boy with his right as his left was in a ready position.

Nobody had ever dared to challenge him, but then you came along. Eyes that were cut cold and lips that were made to spit fire, literally. Other than his mother, you were the only one who kind of kept him in check with reality. The one who brought him down to Earth if he flew too high.

But not having you there was too much already, and now his childhood friend was splitting a personality so similar to yours blew him off.

Midoriya's left fist connected to his cheek, causing droplets of blood to be shed. But he knew that wasn't how much you had to lose to protect him, himself from his own recklessness in the end.

"I AIN'T GOING TO LOSE!!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs as gravity started to pull them both downwards.

Bakugou reached and grabbed the other boy's arm and twisted and switched their positions before he set out a large explosion. Toppled over Midoriya, with a hand covering Midoriya's bruised face another hand on his arm, and legs pinned to the ground, it was his victory.

Both of them panting heavily and scratched up, Bakugou muttered, "It's my win."

"Even with All Might's power...and after making it your own, you still lost to me," Bakugou said, panting in between. "Why? Why did you lose?"

"That's enough you two!" A voice commanded. "My apologies...but I heard everything."

"All..." Bakugou looked back as he stood up, releasing his grip on the boy pinned under him.

"Might..." Midoriya craned his neck up.

The two boys were staring at the familiar man, who walking towards them in a simple white button-up and black dress pants.

"I'm so sorry that I never realized it," The former hero apologized.

"Too late," Bakugou muttered before turning around again and spoke in a more demanding tone. "Deku, why him? The Sludge incident, ever since that, why him out of all people? You could've given it to somebody like Akari, she could've been on top of the world in a instant. Why Deku?"

"Even being quirkless, he had the heart of a hero more than anybody. I could tell you are already strong, you already decided your way, so I decided to give him the chance to walk he hero path too."

"Nah...I'm weak," His voice trembled as his voice grew louder. "This entire time, I wanted to be strong like you! But instead, you wound up like that and she's overseas in the fucking hospital! Because of me!"

"This isn't your fault. I was approaching my limit either way, this was bound to happen. And you're strong, but I was distracted by it that I burdened you with it," Toshinori replied with a bandaged hand on Bakugou's headvand another on his shoulders. "I'm sorry, you too, are just a boy."

Bakugou pushed his hands away before Toshinori started talking again.

"From being a hero for all these years taught me something. I love to win just like you Bakugou, and I also strive to protect and save others like Midoriya. If I lost sight either of those aspects I wouldn't have made it so far and stood for justice."

"Midoriya looks up to your strength, Bakugou. And Midoriya, he fears your spirit. Can't you guys see that now you guys have "talked"? If you learn to respect each other and lift each other up, you guys can become the ultimate heroes. Ones who save by winning and win by saving."

"You think that's what I wanted to hear from you?" Bakugou plopped down onto the cement a few feet to the left of Midoriya with his head down. His head tucked into his scratched arms.

"You," Bakugou suddenly said, making the other boy flinch. "The strongest put you on the fast track, yet you still lost."

"I'll get stronger enough to beat you," Midoriya answered with a determined face.

Taking in a deep breath and running a hand through his hair, Bakugou asked, "Who knows about this deal between you and Deku?"

"The Principal, Recovery Girl, and among the students, only you...and Akari."

He nodded, "So why not her? Why didn't you choose Akari? The strongest out of all of us?"

Toshinori sighed, "She was still held in the mental asylum then and had...a long list of criminal records. If somebody had that much power gets more, it's dangerous."

"'Gets more'," Midoriya repeated quietly.

"It's not exactly my place to tell since she wanted to keep everything low, but I trust the two of you. Her mother's ancestors once had some type of light manipulation quirk, when that ancestor married and had children of her own, the quirk mutated."

"The hell? What about that fire quirk?"

"I'll get to that. But as the roots of the quirks got passed down, it got changed so much that it had little to nothing similar to the original. It had manifested into a shadow quirk that only appeared only in the females, but somehow it's even wired to know who the youngest girl is."

"Akari-Chan is the youngest-" Midoriya's eyes went big as the gears in his head turned.

Toshinori nodded his head as he stared up at the sky, "So far, I've only heard that much from her about the history of the passed on quirk. The quirk doesn't seem to overlap the child's original quirk that was gained from the parents-"

"Two quirks?!" The two boys bursted out.

"It seems so, we'll talk about her a different time. Let's go back now. It's really late out."

The three of them started walking back to the new dorms. Both of the boy's fairly light wounds were itchy and some were bleeding a little, nothing too serious.

"You don't want the word to get out right All Might?" Bakugou suddenly asked on the way back. "If you're still trying to hide it then I won't breathe a word, unlike stupid Deku here. I'll keep your secret, both hers and yours."

Then not too long after, Bakugou and Midoriya started bickering again. Toshinori looked back with a small smile at the boys, one was saying how he will surpass the other, while one was saying he should be stronger than the other.

And he could've sworn a black butterfly landed on Bakugou's shoulders before disappearing into smoke.
