Of course, many of the other young wolves poked fun at Hwanwoong when their assumptions were proven to be correct, despite all of Hwanwoong's protests as a pup.

Initially, he didn't want to be an omega because he grew up hearing about their treatment and their expectations, but ultimately fate was in control.

Hwanwoong was instantly swept up by the elder omegas in the pack, and forced to go through extensive training and teachings on how to act as a proper omega, being reminded that an omega's main purpose is to care for their alpha and birth them healthy pups.

This message was repeated like a mantra so that all omegas strived to live this way.

Naturally, Hwanwoong's intense classes and the warnings that forbid him from spending time around unmated alphas separated the two friends even further, but that didn't keep them from the innocent side glances whenever they passed by that eventually turned into flirty greetings.

Youngjo fell for Hwanwoong's strong lemongrass scent right away, becoming almost addicted to it.

A few years later, their pack held a huge celebration in congratulations for their mating which would take place later in the evening, after the party. It was embarrassing for the couple, more for Hwanwoong than for Youngjo, but the cheers full of happiness and warmth were appreciated.

There was an abundance of food, music, and dancing. Giggles of joy filled the entire common area clear until nighttime, when they finally sent the young couple off to their newly built hut to become officially one.

And two months later, Youngjo still becomes giddy just thinking about that incredibly special night when he claimed his beautiful, perfect omega as his own.

"What? Is there something on my face?" Hwanwoong demanded to know after tucking away the rest of their clean clothing and furs. He had caught the older staring, and it suddenly made him feel self conscious, causing his cheeks to become dusted with pink.

"Nothing, I just love you is all." He pulled his omega down onto the furs with him, snuggling him close to his body before pecking the side of his head. That caused the younger to blush even harder.

Only about a month later, Hwanwoong started to feel a little off.

The first time he noticed it was while tending to the pack gardens. As an omega, this was common work while the alphas and betas trained and hunted. Hwanwoong was used to this kind of labor, and it was nothing too strenuous normally.

But for some odd reason, everytime he bent over to pick unwanted weeds, he'd become light headed.

As the days progressed, the feeling only grew stronger.

While washing some freshly skinned pelts in the creek, Hwanwoong grew nauseous. It wasn't the first time that he's handled skinned animals, so it couldn't just be the smell, although it was quite repulsive.

He felt dizzy and sweat beaded his forehead, though it wasn't necessarily a hot day.

He picked up the last hide and as he went to submerge it in the water, an overwhelming urge to vomit struck him. Before he knew it, he was bent over by the nearest tree, expelling all the contents of his stomach.

Later in the afternoon, he informed Youngjo of the horrific scene, relaying the past week's suspicious happenings as well. The alpha couldn't help but worry, his sage alpha scent spiking, so he dragged his mate to the pack healer immediately.

Though the news they were given was nothing to be fearful of. In fact, they were joyful.

"Wait, w-what?" Youngjo deadpanned at the elder omega's words.
