The dorm common room was completely peaceful, a sweet air of calm covering the floor. The shining moon and stars shone through an open curtain, casting a silver glow across the room, frozen in time.

Unable to sleep as the cogs in your head refused to stop turning, you'd made your way downstairs for a glass of water in hopes it would help soothe your racing mind. It didn't.

A soft fluffy f/c blanket wrapped tightly around your shoulders, you quietly slipped out of the kitchen and flicked the light switch off. You froze.

Standing mere inches away was one of your classmates, Amajiki Tamaki.

Leaning against the doorway. Which wasn't anything new, except that the dorms were completely empty. And it was almost 3am.

His raven coloured hair shone from the few beams of light, so close you could touch it. His forehead was pressed against the wooden frame of the door and his shoulders were hunched. Captivating indigo eyes reflected the silver moon despite being glued to the ground.

You'd never even had a conversation with the shy elf-eared classmate of yours but as you softly took a step closer along the moonlit carpet, you couldn't help but reach out.

"Uhhhhh, Amajiki-San? Everything okay?" You said quietly, suddenly breaking the silence.

The boy shrieked and jerked away. His eyes darted around wildly and a hand quickly moved to cover his mouth. "W-w-what are you doing here?!"

"I'm sorry I scared you, I just came down for a drink. What about you?" You kept your voice low in an attempt to coax him, like you were talking to a baby kitten.

"Well... I... It's...it's nothing. Leave me alone." His hands were clearly trembling, maybe even more than usual. You'd developed a soft spot for the boy from afar and couldn't help but feel concerned.

You calmly crossed your arms, determined. "You're distraught Amajiki-san. I don't want to leave you alone like this."

He scowled, still not looking at you. "W-what makes you say that?"

"Uh, because it's obvious you're not okay. At least, it is to me." You calmly reached out grabbed his shoulder, squeezing it comfortingly.

"We can talk about it if you want. Or maybe just... cuddle?" You gestured to the couches.

"C-c-c-cuddle?!" Tamaki jumped, furious blush dusting his cheeks. "We don't even know each other!" He whisper-shouted and you giggled at how cute it was.

"It could make you feel better. And we should know each other, we are classmates."

"I don't know..." His played with his fingers anxiously and you could tell he was warming up to the idea.

You reached out and gently took hold of his wrist, leading him towards the couches. He shyly followed, his gaze moving everywhere except on you.

Pulling him after you, you flopped against an corner armrest, an adorable squeak escaping Amajiki's lips as his body fell on top of yours.

You knew Amajiki would never let you this close under normal circumstances and you decided to make the most of it, running a comforting hand through his beautiful indigo mess as he leaned into your chest. You could feel the heat his cheeks were radiating.

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"...Only a bad dream." His eyes clenched shut and he shook his head furiously. "I don't want to think about it." You nodded, knowing he couldn't see.

Your legs and his were a tangled mess and your heart fluttered as he began to relax into you.

"I-I've changed my mind. Go away."

"Nope." You popped the 'p', absentmindedly twirling a curl of disheveled hair. "I'm not leaving until you smile. Even if we end up falling asleep before that happens."

He sighed in defeat but snuggled into your embrace, his breath warm on your neck. He was silent for a few minutes as the tension gradually left his body until he spoke suddenly again.

"You promise?" He murmured into your neck.

You smiled sweetly and tightened your hold. Not only were you promising him but you were also promising yourself that no matter what, you would befriend the timid boy you were cuddling.

"I promise, I'll never let you go!"
