Zayn was positive today. Thinking of a night out with his family, possibly a dinner to a restaurant and movies. They'd never done that before so why not tonight?
He parked his car that noon, going excited about picking up Jaireh from his school then telling him the plans for tonight. But as he saw the kid was in a grumpy mood, he frowned.
"Hey, bub." He greeted to earn his attention. The kid smiled but didn't go unnoticed by Zayn that it was fake.
He decided to not ask away about it instead of asking how about school activities. But the kid just shrugged and clutched on his bag tightly like he doesn't want any other person to touch it.
Zayn just nodded and started the car, occasionally glancing at his son for his not best behavior. He wondered why the kid suddenly looked so upset.
He flashbacked on breakfast earlier if something had upset Jaireh about it, the kid was happy and jumpy in the morning. He had this one thing but he has no reason to conclude that.
When they got parked in front of the house, Jaireh usually ran inside to kiss his dad and his baby sister. But now, he just walked in his pace and weakly greeted his dad who frowned at his behavior also.
Zayn and Harry watched him to kissed Zyril on her stroller, smiled a bit but it was weak. "Can I go to my room? I have homework." He politely asked his parents.
"Okay, bub. Do you need anything before you go up?" Harry asked him, worried at his son's actions. He wants to talk to him but the kid obviously wants to be alone.
"Nothing, dad. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Harry followed Zayn into the kitchen after securing Zyril on her playpen, giving her lots of distraction to not cry. He saw Zayn standing by the sink.
"What happened?" He asked softly, having no slight clue if they've argued of something. Zayn sighed and shrugged.
"When I came to pick him up, he's already like that. I asked him how was school but he just shrugged. I don't know why." Zayn answered defeating.
"Are we-you know, giving him less attention that's why-"
Harry quickly shakes his head, putting a hand on Zayn's shoulder to assure him. "Don't think that way. We've been here for him most of the time. We've had to arrange schedules for both of the kids."
"I just don't know why is he upset. I'm sorry. That's just all I can conclude." Zayn brushed his disheveled hair.
Harry smiled nonetheless. "You know what you're good into, do it."
Zayn raised an eyebrow at him. Unsure of what Harry's pointing to. "I - uhm, Zyril is just 2 months and-"
"Not that, you idiot." Harry scolded, later laughing on Zayn's facial expression. "I meant, you're good into persuading kids. You're a teacher, right? You can do it on your son."
"Oh." Zayn said scratching the back of his head. Then later laughing along with Harry. Shaking his head then heading upstairs to Jaireh's room.
He softly knocked on the door and peeked his head in, he saw Jaireh laid on his stomach and coloring on his sketch pad.
The kid looked up at him, smiled weakly like earlier than back to coloring. Zayn sat beside Jaireh's body, pulling his right leg up, his ankle on his left knee.
"Pfft. Homework." He commented, playfully rolling his eyes. The kid giggled a few but didn't answer back.
"You know what, when I was your age, I sent a kid to a hospital." Zayn started making Jaireh stopped his doing, sitting up on his knees.
