i've gone rouge,
driven by madness,
crushed with envy,
and pinned down by scrutiny.

i've gone rouge,
consumed by my own emotions,
hated by the ones i love most,
and betrayed by protectors.

i've gone rouge,
forced to hide behind the white man's petticoat

A/N: I wrote this back in April basically my initial feelings surrounding police brutality & the fixation officers have with killing black lives. I, as a black woman, feel so threatened and defeated when officers treat people like animals because of my skin color. It doesn't matter if you're light skin or dark sin, white officers will never see you as anything worthy of being treated as a human being. The following three poems have to do with the injustice American lives go through everyday. Starting with police brutality... my apologies, I meant murder.
