"Mignonette! Don't stray too far! You might get lost!" ang sigaw ni papa while standing at the verge of the seashore.
"Pa, diyan lang po ako sa may pumpboat. Promise it won't take too long." ang sabi ko and the whizzing wind carried my voice away. Sumasayaw din ang aking maalon at maitim na buhok which waves down to my shoulders and elbows.
"Kung hahanapin mo ako, I'm just hanging out with my friends under the roma tree" he blurted out with an authoritative smile plastered on his face.
"Pa, don't drink too much huh. Mum will throw a fit to you again." ang paalala ko sa kaniya.
"Of course, I will stifle myself on the limits, Mign." He gestured in the air then he dig his hands into his black pants. Kitang-kita ko ang trace line ng plantsadong pants ni papa and it danced along with the swoosh of the wind.
"Watch on your step, Mignonette." he cautioned me and he turned his feet on back to his circle of friends. There's a simple birthday occasion here in Aubrio and my dad has always been invited every year.
I started to walk in the carpet of the course sand while memorizing and mumbling out the periodic table of elements in the air. Teacher Masaida told us to memorize it on Monday and I always forget it as if my brain don't want to eat it.
"Hydrogen H, Helium He," nakayuko ako para tingnan ang bawat paghakbang ko tapos tanaw doon sa may pumpboat tapos tingin uli sa baba.
" Lithium Li, Berrylium Be, Boron B, Carbon C, Nitrogen N, Oxygen O, Flourine F, Flourine. .. Flourine... I can't remember. Ano yung sunod ng Fluorine?" I got perplexed. Nakalimutan ko na ang kasunod ng fluorine. Dapat kasi nireview ko yun kanina o di kaya nagdala ako ng mismong kopya nun. Naiinggit ako sa mga kaklase ko dahil titingin lang sila sa cellphone nila kaso ayaw akong payagan ni papa na magselpon. Sobrang bata ko pa raw para i-istrain ang mga mata ko sa radiation. Pinapagamit niya lang minsan pag may kailangang i-research o kapag tatawag kay mommy sa abroad.
"Flourine, ano kaya ang kasunod nun?"
"Syempre Neon!" napalingon ako sa pinanggalingan ng munting tinig. A boy who I think is of my age appears in my sight. He was right at that. Neon nga ang kasunod ng Flourine.
"How did you know that?" ang usisa ko sa kaniya at yumuko ako para hubarin at bitbitin ang aking mga puting tsinelas.
"Eh pangalan ko yun eh" ang tugon ng bata at ngumiti siya sa akin. His dimples popped out on his cheeks.
