Well, you may have heard me earlier in the office loud as hell,” Tiffany began to explain as we left 1st period together. “But it was for a reason. I’m only doing this for community service to make up for what happened. Sensing my confusion she continued. “I just had a little…disagreement with this girl. But hey, it got me out of boring ass 1st period, until now!”
I chuckled as we walked into Sociology. Immediately, I seen the stares of everyone, but I shrugged it off and walked up to the teacher. “Ms. Tills, I’ve been expecting you. I’m Mrs. Smith and um, I see you’ve made a…friend already I see, “ she said glancing at Tiffany, who rolled her eyes and sat in her seat. “Be careful who you befriend Ms. Tills.”
“Ok, thank you Mrs. Smith.” I replied sitting right next to Tiffany.
“She’s just mad because I told her ass off the first day I met her. I’m not anyone talk to me any kind’ve way.” Tiffany explained.
“Ms. Ambers, just to remind you and introduce to Ms. Tills there is no tolerance for talking during class time.” Mrs. Smith said out of nowhere.
I chuckled under my breath as Tiffany sighed, holding her tongue.
As class began, the stares started to face away, all except one. She sat all the way in back in an oversized black hoodie. She was really pretty with her light brown hair and green eyes, but for some reason, she looked…pissed.
“Oh don’t worry, about her, that’s Tracy. She’s the reason why I had that office work in the first place, starting rumors and shit, blaming me for the shit after I forewarned her. Guess she’s still blaming me for it.” Tiffany assured me.
“What do you mean because of what happened?” I asked. She began to hesitate, opening her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but decided not to.
“Long story, but to make it shorter, she’s Troy’s ex and my ex-bestfriend. While they’ were dating, Troy went through a lot, it wasn’t a good time for him and I told her not to get too close, but she didn’t listen and it didn’t last. Not my fault. ”she snapped.
Okay. Touchy, touchy subject I see. I wonder what rumors that Tracy girl started to spread around about her and Troy. Whatever, I have nothing to do with it, I’ll find out about it sooner or later. I quickly shrugged it off. The class continued and I pretended like I was interested even laughing at T’s arguments with Mrs. Smith. Throughout the class period I could still feel the stare of Tracy just peering at T and me.
“So what are you doing later T?” I asked, trying to get my mind off Tracy and reason not to come directly home. Before T could even answer, Mrs. Smith answered for the both us.
“Well, she’ll be heading to detention later, right along with you Ms. Tills. I told you both, no talking during class. I’ll see you two after school, for an hour, with no excuses whatsoever.”
My demeanor quickly changed from irritated to neutral after thinking it through. Well, I mean, it sure beats seeing my mom after what happened this morning…still can’t believe she even brought dad up. Whatever, detention it is then.
The next class was a big blur and trust me, I was not complaining AT ALL. As the bell rang for lunch, I started looking for Tiffany. She’d went off to talk a friend after class and left me at the cafeteria doors and now I was seriously lost in the hallways looking for her. Well, guess I’ll figure it out where I’ll sit on my own. As if someone read my mind, I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder.
“Need some help new girl?” I heard a new familiar deep voice say. I instantly melted internally and calmly turned around to face those gorgeous hazel eyes. Troy.
“Well, umm, yea, yo-you’re friend Tiff..I mean T and I were gonna sit together for lunch but I guess she’s busy at the moment.” I stammered.
“And knowing how T, you’ll probably be waiting on her the whole hour for lunch. C’mon, you can sit with me and the other guys til she gets back.” He suggested grabbing my wrist. As much as I wanted to, I hesitated and stopped him. I barely know him and I didn’t wanna leave T behind.
“No, I’m fine. I’ll just wait for T.” I told him. His smile immediately turned into a big pout, making his lips look even fuller and noticeable than before. “Oh…um, okay, that’s cool. I guess I’ll talk to you later then.” He said walking towards the cafeteria. Maybe I’m over-exaggerating. I mean, T probably does this all the time and who knows when she’ll be back? I’m sure she won’t mind. Besides, they’re friends, so he must be pretty. And who could say no to that face?
“Wait up!” I yelled down the hallway, jogging towards him. “Changed my mind.”
There’s that smile again. ‘”Well alright new girl.” he said, putting his arm over my shoulders as we entered into the cafeteria.
“Stephanie. Call me Stephanie.” I replied with a grin.
