I don't mind letting you down easy
But just give it time
If it don't hurt now then just wait, just wait a while
You're not the big fish in the pond no more
You are what they're feeding on...
I groaned, turning over and hitting the 'Snooze' button on my alarm clock. Normally I loved waking up to Paramore in the morning, but today was NOT one of those days. "Stephanie, get outta bed or you'll miss the bus for your first day." my mom yelled. I groaned again and put my pillow over my head. "That's kinda the point of me staying in bed. I don't want to go to this stupid school, I don't want live in this stupid city....why'd she even take this damn job offer?" I thought to myself.
I hated just the thought of just visiting LA, and now we have to live here? Great. We were just fine in Warding, Texas, where there hardly people there. Nice little town, no drama whatsoever, and I loved the quiet places that no one knew of except me, MY escape from reality. And now all of it was being thrown away because of a stupid job offering my mom took here. I hate this place.
I finally decided to get up, since I really didn't have much of a choice, and hopped in the shower. After doing the rest of my morning routine, I picked out a pair of black skinny jeans, my favorite red and black shirt, red Converse, with a black cardigan for a finishing touch. As usual, I put my hair in ponytail and headed to the kitchen.
"Finally Stephanie, almost thought you were never gonna get up." my mom said sarcastically as I walked in the dining room and grabbed an apple really quickly. "I wish, I hate this shithole of a place." I mumbled under my breath. Guess I didn't mumble low enough as she replied, "Watch your mouth Stephanie, I seriously hate your attitude. Ever since your dad died you've been lik-" She gasped as she realized what she'd just said.
"Dad," I thought to myself as I tried to fight back tears. "Godamnit, don't cry." Ever since my dad passed away 4 years ago to cancer, everything's been different. My mom pretends as if everything's okay but I hear her crying through the night when she thinks I'm sleeping. And then there's me. I just don't view anything the same like I used to. I have to admit, I was different before my dad died - always out, had friends, and enjoyed spending time with my dad. But when my dad died, that part of me died too.
"I'm leaving." I said, snapping back to reality.
"I'm so sorry Steph, I didn-."
"Forget it, I'm going to school, just I liked you wanted." I mocked sarcastically while rushing out. This first day was gonna be hell.
Thomas Riley High School. "This is such bullshit." I muttered as I hopped off the school bus. As I walked on campus, I quickly noticed the cliques - your typical nerds, jocks, popular kids, and the rest went on. Looks like I'm gonna be by myself this year. Suits me just fine. I thought as I finally found the main office.
"Hi, I'm a transfer student, Stephanie Tills, and um...I'm here for my schedule." I told the receptionist. I could tell she didn't want to be bothered by the way she sighed. Ew, someone still has morning breathe. "Wait one second Ms. Till, I'll hand you your schedule in a second and there'll be a fellow student to guide you around the school just for today." she stated. Ugh, I have to be around people? Calm down, calm down, it's only for today and you don't have to even say much.
"Fine, but after this one, my hours are finished I'm done with this shit!" a loud voice exclaimed. The conversation continued but getting closer towards me. I noticed a girl that I assumed was loud one speaking. She was pretty, in her own way, with caramel skin, long, dark brown hair and light brown eyes. She wore some awesome high-waisted jeans with a white crop, black Vans, and a black cardigan. Nice, I wish could look like that. Even close to that would be nice.
"Um, HELLO? Your name is Stephanie right?" the girl asked, her hand waving in my face. "Are you okay girl?"
Snapping out of it, I answered, "Oh yeah...I'm fine, sorry. I was thinking about something."
"Oh well um....I'm Tiffany, Tiffany Ambers, but everyone calls me T." she said handing me my new schedule.

"Well damn, we almost have all the same classes together, except Gym, and yeah don't worry about PreCal, they've double-blocked everyone for Math, low test scores last year...bullshit" Tiffany assured me. "Well let me show you around the campus, I'm sure you like it sooner or later, everyone usually does." Well not everybody, I'm leaving out of this shithole you guys call a school as soon as I get the opportunity. I thought to myself as we walked out the door. Suddenly I felt my phone vibrate.
Mommy: I'm sorry sweetie, I didn't mean to have your first morning turn out so horrible. I love you.
Me: It's cool. Love you too.
Not paying attention ahead me, I bumped into some tall, random person, dropping my phone. "Oh gosh, I'm so sorr-" stopping in mid-sentence. Glancing up, the first thing I noticed were his hazel eyes. Yup, hazel is my new favorite color. Standing all the way up, I noticed the rest of who've I've bumped into. Chiseled arms, pouty, full lips, and smooth caramel skin made me stare into a daze. Noticing that I was staring, he smiled. Oh god, those dimples.
"Oh hi, I'm Stephanie. Sorry, that was all my fault." I said. "It's cool, I'm Troy," he replied in a deep, strong voice. "Well, gotta go, definitely see you later, new girl." As he walked off, he turned back around, waving and winked at me, making me blush even harder as Tiffany approached me again.
"Well, I see you've met my bestfriend Troy." she said in a sharp tone. "Watch it girl, he is something else, you have got to be careful messing with him. Come on before the bell rings." There was only thing I could think in my head as she began to lead me to our first class together. Yes, he definitely is something else. I think I'll enjoy this school after all.
