There are two parts of the mindscape. One part for the dark sides, and one for the lights. The light side is warm, cozy, and... well... light. The dark side is not. The light sides can't get around easily there because of how dark it is, but the darks can see just fine. But this split caused a problem.
Janus has a lot of things in common with snakes - his scales, his forked tongue, his eye, and other things. None of these things are usually a problem, except for one.
Janus is cold-blooded. He gets his heat from the sun and his environment. But the dark side is cold and dark.
